Nostalgia. I found this among old emails. (My email) To America's Talking, 10/13/95:

I support the million man march. I am a white male. The goals of this march are admirable, and I see no reason to be against it. The "media party" is against the march because one of their pet demons, Minister Farrakahn, is involved. This march can be a good thing for the country, but the media instead chooses to highlight the controversial aspects, making it an "us versus them" issue, and pitting black against white.

(America's Talking was a cable network hosted by Chris "Tweety" Matthews)

I remember one of the things Farrakhan said. What was a shame, was that he even had to say it. freshwest Jan 2012 #1

It was about the marches to be able to sit at a lunch counter with white people. How incredulous it was that blacks were set on with dogs and fire hoses asking for something so simple as sitting down next to another person to eat a meal.

I would have laughed if people hadn't died to get recognition as members of homo sapiens.

The utter insanity of discrimination is never mentioned by those trying to hold onto power unjustly. It is like slapping yourself in the face, to deny the humanity of another. It makes you crazy.

And we're not over this yet, not by a long shot.
