Because it gives the police, FBI, et. al. something to do besides go after the real criminals, who are stealing the Middle Class blind. Duh!

He has a tendency to predict what he fantasizes about, but rarely what is reality. He's in for a bad year if that is what he thinks, poor guy.

(829 posts)fighting over Zuccotti Park is a losing strategy... making your stand on the wrong ground
if you're going to make a stand, make it where it counts - the doors of the stock exchange

(62,325 posts)The Corporate Owned NYPD is protecting the 'doors of the stock exchange', OWS has been attacking the Banks with a better strategy than fighting the Robo Cops outside the stock exchange. They've been stopping their illegal foreclosures and gaining more support out in the communities they are helping as a result, all helping to forge more alliances and building a movement that is growing each day.
They are everywhere, helping eg, to take customers away from the Big Banks. Establishing their own banks in SF eg, people's banks.
This movement will last for years and keep growing worldwide until Corporate Control of the world ends. Nigeria joined the movement this week after their Corporate Controlled Govt. took from the people, as Corporate Govts do, and the Nigerian united against them calling themselves 'Occupy Nigeria' in appreciation of the idea that is spreading around the world.
Just because you don't see it on the Corporate Media, doesn't mean it isn't happening. This week eg, was a great week for the Occupiers, in LA, in Oakland and in NYC and around the country for people who would have lost their homes, had it not been for this movement. No one else is helping he American people so now they are helping themselves.

(829 posts)so if the battle is going to happen make it happen somewhere meaningful
If the cops are at the exchange, go to Police Headquarters and have the protest there!

(62,325 posts)were out protesting Police Brutality at City Hall. And in NYC one of the first major demonstrations with thousands of people was at Police Headquarters demonstrating against the tactics of the police in that city. Elsewhere, they are going to court etc.
A lot of focus is being put on the behavior of the police in different cities.
Shutting down the Ports in support of the Longshoremen and of the port truckers, not once, but twice, has been very successful sending a message to the Multi Corps and Goldman Sacs that the people will no longer tolerate their attempt to destroy the Middle Class.
It's hard to keep up with all the activities they are involved in, but for now their biggest targets are the Bank Foreclosures. Plans to 'Occupy Congress' should take place later this month also.

(19,326 posts)I long for the day when OWS is no longer all about the fucking POLICE, and
picking losing battles with them. I mean it was maybe fun for awhile, but
geesh. it's high time for OWS 2.0 to emerge.

(53,339 posts)They want to squash and/or discredit the movement. The last thing they want is continuing Occupy actions/police response to draw more attention to the grievances that are being presented. Those are resonating, and that's what they fear.
