Huffington Post...these idiots do not proof read...Screw up royal..

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/10/george-lucas-hollywood-di_n_1197227.html

In this story, they get it all wrong..see second paragraph.. this is the way it was written at 7:30am eastern time..
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

"In an appearance on The Daily Show last night, George Lucas said that he had trouble getting funding for his new movie, "Red Tails," because of its black cast.

"This has been held up for release since 1942 since it was shot, I've been trying to get released ever since," Lucas told Jon Stewart. "It's because it's an all-black movie. There's no major white roles in it at all...I showed it to all of them and they said no. We don't know how to market a movie like this."

________________________________________________________________________________________________________a

The entire point is ruined because of the stupidity of someone.. It wasn't held up since 1942 when it was shot, it was written in 1992.
I found that elsewhere on the net. . These idiots don't are just that ......idiots...

George Lucas began developing Red Tails around 1988[4] with a scheduled release in 1992.[5] He compared it to Tucker: The Man and His Dream as "a story too good to be true".[6] Thomas Carter was his original choice to direct.[7] A number of writers worked on the project until John Ridley was hired in 2007 to write the final screenplay.[4][8] Lucas held discussions with Samuel L. Jackson regarding Jackson possibly directing and acting in the film. Although Jackson praised the script, he did not commit to either role.[9] Anthony Hemingway was finally chosen to direct in 2008.[10] In researching the film, Lucasfilm invited some of the surviving Tuskegee Airmen to Skywalker Ranch, where they were interviewed about their experiences during World War II.[11][12] Lucasfilm was also given access to the original mission logbooks used by some of the pilots.[13]

Production began in March 2009. High-definition Sony F35 cameras were used for principal photography,[14] which took place in the Czech Republic, Italy, Croatia and England.[3] While shooting in the Czech Republic, the actors underwent a "boot camp" program, during which they lived in similar conditions as the actual Tuskegee Airmen.[13] Editing began while the production was in Prague. Avid editing systems were used simultaneously in a Prague studio and at Lucasfilm.[15] A vehicle was fitted with a "technical center" so that the production could quickly move between locations.[14] In March 2010, Lucas took over direction of reshoots, as Hemingway was busy working on episodes of the HBO series Treme. Hemingway will have final approval over the footage.[16]

John had asked him how he was able to make the movie look as if it was actually happening back at that time. Lucas made a joke that it looked like a movie from that time because it was actually shot in 1942.

Then they laughed. It was a joke.

Lucas then went on to to say that it took him about 20 some years to make the movie because he felt than he could not get the full story down to 2 hours.

Then Lucas goes on to describe how he decided to NOT try and squeeze the full story into one movie. Much like star wars, he said this movie has a pre-quel, and a sequel.

Through out the discussion, he talked about the fact that movies that have few of perhaps no white lead actors generally don't make enough money, and so none of the big studios wanted to fund it. So he did it himself.

Not sure why anyone who actually watched the show would be confused by any of this.

He and Jon were talking about how Red Tails was intentionally shot to look like an old movie.

Glass stones.

Houses.

I couldn't belive that, and I listened and watched that part of the interview..

Now that gives the wrong info, and Stewart kind of glosses over that mistake, but the audience, hears it and laughs..

It was shot recently, not in 1942.
So, Lucas actually says that..why?
........ I don't know either..

Really? He misspoke. It happens *all* the time. Between typos and brain lapses some things really are just mistakes.

Relax a little bit. It's good for your heart.

John asks how it looked so much like a movie from that time period ... Lucaus says because we shot it in 1992 ... he then pauses for a few seconds ... and then everyone laughs ... it was a joke.

He then goes on to describe why it took him about 20 years to make the movie ... which was far more interesting than the 1942 joke.

It was a little subtle ... kind of a "tongue in cheek" thing ... almost a throw-away line ... a bridge to move on to how he actually got the film made.

Huffpo missing that is what is odd ... not viewers missing it. It was tiny.
