Commit sedition and get no jail time.

Well folks, those murderous insurrectionists, at least the vast majority of them, are going to get no jail time. I guess we just have to face the facts that proving serious crimes against white folks is hard to do.

I am in a funk. I can't watch cable news because it has veered farther right and I turn on the computer and see headlines like the above.

I see people assuming that Georgia's election stealing law will get struck down and I say, what leads them to that assumption? The Koch brother is pouring millions of dollars into stopping the Democrat's election bill, and Joe Manchin is still Joe Manchin. Moving the baseball all star game from Georgia made me laugh, so what, few people watch that game anyway. If Democrats can't get their election fairness bill passed through Congress I see other states copying Georgia's law, Pa. has already made it harder to vote by mail.

I started to read another Buddhist book just to cheer me up but the book just makes me realize that Trumpers are the antithesis of Buddhists.

President Biden is doing a wonderful job trying to combat the evil that emanates from Trumpism and Congress needs to have his back.

I really need talked off the ledge. I envision justice not being done in a murder case that was captured on video.

Spring is here in Pa. and I am going golfing today before the cold weather returns tomorrow. Easter is coming and hope springs eternal.

2. I've been to the edge of the abyss several times...

but since I never saw anything positive down there, I always retreated to a place where there's at least a glimmer of hope. Welcome back, your determination is needed here to combat the forces of evil. Without speed bumps like us they'll run completely unobstructed, and our children and grandchildren will have no reason to stare into the abyss themselves. We cant deny them that time tested character builder, can we?

We'll always fight back, because that's what we do. Go get into some Good Trouble today. It'll make you feel better, and really piss them off!

We'll be alright. Honest.

5. Honestly, I used to spend a lot of time on

a local right wing web site, even got banned there for 6 months. I realized that a rational person can't debate an irrational person so I cut way back on my time there. Now I just take pot shots. I fire off posts, threads and articles rapid fire, and then don't go back for several days. It is more fun that way to see the carnage and consternation that I caused. Usually when they have no response to my post I get called a baby killer, that is their fall back position. I am also a Chinese sympathizer, a commie, a Socialist un-American.

They are excellent at name calling, not so good at critical thinking or common sense. I do know that they can never be converted back to living in reality. I read an article about why they cling to guns and religion, they are afraid to confront their mortality. I always thought it was because mommie took away their binkies too soon.

I was deeply involved in politics back in my younger days. I led a revolt to stop a coal cleaning plan being installed in a flood plain within our tiny borough. I took on our local mafia. We had the largest number of borough residents attend a council meeting, that record still stands. Wes topped the coal cleaning plant and my involvement got me elected to borough council for 2 terms in a red neck town.

I donate money now. One organization that needs more publicity is the ACLU. I ask that people donate to them, they are on the front lines.

9. Funny you should say that...

about the ACLU anyway. The day after the 2016 election I wrote a big (big for me, anyway) check to the ACLU, knowing that we'd be needing them more than ever with THAT GUY in office. We were correct about that, weren't we? I still donate when I can. They'll get a chunk of my COVID relief check, if I ever get it.

Like you, my best fighting days are behind me. Coming of age in the 60s was one helluva education though, so finding ways to get into "Good Trouble" these days is getting tougher, but I'll never stop trying. The day I stop fighting is the day they shove my fat ass in the cremation oven. I've made peace with that, though, and when I look at my grandchildren I realize I can never let the bastards get me down. Sometimes it seems like the fight is the only thing that keeps me going.

Hang in there. We all have bad days, and then there are the worse days, but I've yet to have the WORST day. That day will be the end of me, for sure. Until that day, keep swinging, whatever form that "swing" takes in our advanced years. There's a whole new crop of young people ready to pick up the fight, and there's more now than ever. I have faith for the future, I really do.

3. If you haven't hit the course yet -

to consistently defeat your skilled opponent on the course you use strategy, and that strategy doesn't have to be for you to improve your game. For instance, you're on the tee with water tight on the left, the right is wide open, your opponent has a slice, and you tend to hook. At this point there isn't much you're going to be able to do with your game, so you tell your opponent that you might as well give him this hole because the water isn't in play for him. It would be a shame for him to lose two strokes off the tee ...

Playing through news stories is the same thing. By the time this trial is over a hundred different distractions have sucked all the motivation out of you and everyone else. When it's time for an election the item most important to you is just one of the many others and you get no traction. So, what's the solution? One way is to keep track of the different issues, record them in a single list and put the links in a file. As the election draws nearer contact the peoples affected and referenced in each topic. Unite your efforts.

As for me, forget it. I might as skip the tee and drive to the drop zone.

7. Thanks for the post,

I am really just in a momentary funk. I am really an optimist. If a person were to actually write down all of his perceived problems every day for a couple of weeks and then go back and look at that list, one would find that most of those perceived problems weren't really problems at all. You see, I do draw the ball a tad though, not really a hook.

Last year I played in our member guest with an 88 year old, he is good, I was 73. We play 9 holes scramble, 9 holes better ball, and 9 holes alternate shot. We shot 38 in the alternate shot, par 36. We finished 2nd place in the championship flight. I played my heart out more so for my partner than for myself. He keeps telling me that he usually wins something and that this may be his last year playing. People like him are still around who inspire me.

4. It is extremely easy to fall into a state of despair these days. I know. I keep slipping into that

state of mind myself. Sometimes the injustice seems like too much for me to bear. But then I remind myself that that is exactly what the Koch brother and the entirety of the Republican Party wants: for those of us who oppose them to feel so overwhelmed and hopeless that we give up and stop paying attention and stop trying to block their evil efforts to make this country their own personal cash cow.

And then, like you, I take a break from this forum and from all news media and get out in nature, which is the best way I know of hitting the mental "refresh button."

I would also suggest that you watch interview videos of the heros on our side, especially VP Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Stacey Abrams, Katie Porter, AOC, Elizabeth Warner, Adam Schiff, Pete Buttigieg, Senator Warnock, . . . too many to list! They all inspire hope that good will triumph over evil.

All the best to you!
