Republicans don't think Biden really wants to work with them

BY ALEXANDER BOLTON AND MORGAN CHALFANT - 04/02/21 06:00 AM EDT

Republicans on Capitol Hill say President Biden’s infrastructure proposal is the clearest sign yet that the White House has no intention of working with them on big legislation.

The $2.25 trillion plan unveiled this week by Biden takes direct aim at former President Trump’s signature economic achievement by raising the corporate tax rate that Republicans lowered in their 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

“It’s pretty clear the way it is being crafted is far-left and goes after the marquis item that we passed on taxes,” said a Senate Republican aide.

Biden’s proposal “fundamentally takes the approach that government and government spending is the answer, and we strongly disagree with that,” the aide said.

3. The Hill has their wording exactly backwards

Should read qgop gives clearest sign yet that they have no intention of working with the duly elected president, the leader of our country.

They are not in charge! Why do they act as if it is up to us? Biden has repeatedly said he would like to work with the qgop. They have only made statements to the contrary

New York (CNN Business)James "Jimmy" Finkelstein, the owner of The Hill newspaper, is not a widely known media executive, but he is one of the era's most consequential.

Finkelstein resides at the nexus of President Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and John Solomon, the now-former executive at The Hill and current Fox News contributor who pushed conspiracy theories about Ukraine into the public conversation.

While Solomon has received significant media attention for his work at The Hill, Finkelstein has stayed out of the headlines, despite having himself played a crucial role in the saga.

Beyond his relationship with Solomon, Trump, and Giuliani, Finkelstein was Solomon's direct supervisor at The Hill and created the conditions which permitted Solomon to publish his conspiratorial stories without the traditional oversight implemented at news outlets. And he has kept a watchful eye on the newspaper's coverage to ensure it is not too critical of the President.

Joe Biden seems to have learned the bitter lessons Democrats learned during the Obama administration. Republicans spent six years obstructing Democratic initiatives. They stall, they obstruct, they deal in bad faith: why the HELL should any Democrat think Republicans are finally ready to play nice?

The R’s had their chances and blew right through them. They have NO reason to expect to be trusted, and if it’s a choice between doing right for the country and expecting Republicans to cooperate, I’d say go for the former.

9. So what are the GOP proposals that Biden won't work with?

If all they bring to the table is "No," there's nothing to work with. Biden is doing things, and that isn't the Republican way. Biden has significantly upped the game, Republicans, so up yours.

Biden probably thinks that republicans don't really want to work with him. Once again they are projecting and most people aren't buying it, well normal sane people anyway.

The former president (not to be confused with "the former guy" ) tried playing with you and got the "Lucy always yanks the football away" treatment for eight years. People on your side voted against bills they themselves had sponsored when he said "Okay, we'll do it your way, but let's get something done" moments and your guys faced the prospect of having to smile and be photographed with him at a signing ceremony.

You want to deal, then deal for real. Joe's willing.

You want to stamp your feet and hold your breathe because he's not asking you how many cookies you want (even when you're still getting some), then go ahead and turn blue. First your face, then your district.

A sizable number of House Republicans and a handful of Senators literally tried to overturn the election- and would have if they could have. And their former ringleader sicc'd a mob on Congress to prevent them from certifying the election, leading to the loss of human life. Many of them still can't openly admit that Biden was the legitimately elected winner of the last election without hemming and hawing so as to avoid Trumpublican fury. If I were President *I'd* be extremely leery of working with them too, although it's not like Biden is not trying. Mitch McConnell has already put his foot down hard on anything Biden is proposing. Not sure there is much to work with at the moment, unfortunately.

Why do they want to hold back good pay for Americans?
Petro-propaganda that is why
Time to stop putting up with their lies and get the truth out.
Climate change is real but half this country thinks it is a hoax
They think tar sands are a good idea with pipelines across the country
We need to clean-up nuclear not make more.
End subsidies for the oil industry and invest in renewable new jobs
We got work to do lets put people to work
Seems simple to me.
