Share of Democrats in U.S. Spikes After Biden Win
April 7, 2021 at 5:38 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

A new Gallup poll found that 49% of respondents consider themselves Democrats or leaning that way, while 40% consider themselves Republicans or lean that way — the largest gap in almost a decade.

Gallup said the jump comes mostly from Republicans leaving the party at the end of President Donald Trump’s tenure. Only 25% of U.S. adults firmly identify with the Republicans, down from 29% late last year.

OK, help me understand something. If only 25% of U.S. adults firmly identify with the Republicans then why do we give a flying flip when these same polls tell us that 50% of GQP don't support the infrastructure plan. That's less than 15% of U.S. adults.

Am I missing something?

firmly identify as Republican, how do they suddenly get to upper 40's by election day or possibly win a race? Answer me that.

population that Gallup polls. So that 40's voting population drops to 25% when counted as part of the whole population.

... one of my nephews talking about his supposedly favorite NFL team years ago.

Me: "You're a Rams fan now?! Weren't you a Broncos fan before, and a Cowboys fan before that?"

Him: "Yes, but now I mostly like the Rams! Such an exciting offense!"

Me: "Hmm... and I can't help but notice that they're the latest Super Bowl winners too."

Oh, well. The more, the better!

The loss of money in GA for one day will be made up over the next several elections because the MLB move drew much more attention to what the GOP is doing with state and local election boards and officials.

I firmly believe that many, many more Democrats will be out in force in state and local elections across the country and in a few years Dems will be in solid control in what are now "swing states."

The Democrats have the best opportunity since 1964 to take control of the message and focus the attention of the new and young voters on civics and state and local elections. Democrats need to focus on their messaging more. They also need to take the civics message to colleges and universities and especially HBCUs and once again call on the new breed of politicians to begin a movement akin to Americore and invite the young to join a movement for good governance and an economy where all citizens have the opportunity and means to succeed in earning a living wage. That alone will reduce the need for deficit spending over the long run.

I'm afraid that is the actual plan in those QOP state legislatures. The Jim crow rerun stuff is more of a screen for their actual plan, codification of vote total alteration made legal. It's one of those "look over here at what bad things we're doing, you should place all your energies toward stopping us", while the really effectively bad things remain. I mean the no water in the poll lines is an obvious target for outrage, right? If that were removed a lot of people would say, work done, lets celebrate. Welcome to cynical Wednesday.

it also means that 1 in 4 of us are goose-stepping supporters of the very fascism and plutocracy that the rest of us despise and are fighting. 1 in 4 still remain loyal to a Party that stands for the extremely wealthy, for the extremely racist, for the authoritarian rule of “strong men”; they are constitutional contrarians who regard that document as an occasionally useful but never binding piece of parchment.

And I find that disconcerting.

Still, if 3 out of 4 of us eschew those fascist values represented by the modern GOP, that’s a sign of health. So, if America were a physical body, its health would be OK, but the doctor would recommend annual check-ups and eternal vigilance.

Democrats have been waiting for this combination for a very long time.

Coming on the heels of the great populist leader who sold out to the Russians, put the swamp in charge of government, cut his own taxes, and let over 550,000 of us die because he was too stubborn to listen to experts, Biden should be able to get a lot of what he's talking about.

Just use that steamroller, Joe. This is what it's for.
