Manchin question here
Do the people of west Virginia support Joe Bidens plan? ( i thought they did) If so why don't THEY put pressure on Manchin?

10. I can't either because if he was Mitch McConnell would be in charge and there would have been
no rescue package which Manchin voted for. Also, Manchin voted to save the ACA during the Trump administration...without his vote the ACA would be gone. We will be damned lucky to keep the House and the Senate in 22 so consider that. And I have seen the same sort of posts about other moderate Democrats who are now replaced by Republicans. Mary Landrieu, Blanche Lincoln, Roland Burris, Evan Bayh, Byron Dorgan, Arlen Spector, Russ Feingold, Mark Begich, Mark Pryor, Mark Udall (Corey Gardner held he seat until 2020 12 years),Tom Harkin, John Walsh, Kay Hagen, Tim Johnson and Jay Rockefeller. More recently, we lost Claire McCaskill, Heidi Heitcamp, Joe Donnelly and Doug Jones.
Please note that Ted Kennedy was replaced Scott Brown who was later replaced by Sen. Warren...but the Massachusetts seat and the Colorado seat are the only ones listed that we have gotten back...all others remain with the GOP as will Manchin's seat when he leaves. Rockefeller was from WVA you know...so maybe look at the Democratic senatorial carnage since 2010 that we have faced and then tell me you think if Manchin leaves it would be a good thing. It wouldn't. It would be one more seat that is lost to us for decades. |

24. I don't necessarily agree with that. I think we need to work on strategies to win if we can't
get a bill-using the courts and public opinion...corporate boycotts etc...sometimes when you try to stop folks they become more determined and only close elections can be stolen IMHO. I am not ruling out some sort of voting bill yet either.

Any election can be stolen, not just close ones.

Who owns those construction firms, etc? Who owns most of their stock?

I'm surprised the repugs aren't jumping all over it in support, it will be easy pickens.

3. Vote Dem 2022. Make him irrelevant.
He only has this level of power right now cause the numbers are so tight. Let’s get a few more Senate seats so no one Senator has this level of control.

25. Honest to goodness, I don't know why more people on this site don't get that.
The sensible woodchucks think that the Democrats are magically going to get out the vote in 2022 and pick up a few more senators to make Manchin irrelevant, and that we should presently be happy and content that Senator Hoopie has a D after his name.
If Manchin (and Sinema) doesn't accede to making changes to the filibuster and prevents the For the People Act from passing, it's lights out for Team Donkey. Lights. Out. We will see voter suppression and vote nullification in Republican-controlled states like never before, all because we had to cater to Manchin's overinflated sense of self-importance. |

Dems need to set up town halls by admin cabinet members, Pete for transportation, and others across WV.. sell this to the people.. let them see the potential benefits to their third world state... then lay it on his shoulders...let them see who he works for...nra...GQP... they can’t all be that stupid

The real question is "even IF they support the plan. Are they willing to get rid of the filibuster to do so?"
The answer to that is almost certainly no. |
