Michigan Gov. Whitmer is working to address a surge of coronavirus cases/hospitalizations.

BREAKING: Gov. Whitmer is working to address a surge of coronavirus cases/hospitalizations. She’s urging a two-week suspension of:

•in-person high school classes
•all youth sports
•indoor restaurant dining
•indoor gatherings with friends

Not mandatory. Only voluntary.

A reminder that the Michigan state GOP worked vigorously for most of 2020 to strip Governor Whitmer of her emergency powers - which the state Supreme Court finally did last fall.

The GOP has many Michiganders convinced that COVID is a sham, which has led to the current crisis.

The repukes stripped her of power so now she can only ask for a voluntary response

Republican politicians are basically condemning their own supporters, exposing them to a deadly virus for political rah-rah. Where they should be out there supporting the Governor's cautionary recommendations, they're still promoting a dismissal of Covid 19 and it's virulent mutations.

In the name of Free-dum!

These are not serious, responsible people. Which is why they must be denied power at all levels.

While she was stripped of being able to call for a state of emergency indefinately, the health department director, who reports to her, can still issue orders under their powers.

The legislature has been unable to prevent her from doing much of anything regarding the pandemic restrictions.
