It is hard to see this as anything other than treason. The DoD leaders sent troops to defend their own houses hours before they sent troops to the Capitol.

(21,064 posts)it has, however, astounded me that it did not turn into a siege/standoff with hostages...with them demanding "their man" be declared the winner.

(6,703 posts)The fact that no one has yet to suffer ANY consequences is proof of its success. The next time it will be the anti-insurrectionists who suffer consequences of failure to prevent the coup. I mean it's April already and the public has yet to hear a single believable excuse for the NG tardiness that day

(6,703 posts)90 days and no straight talk from the Pentagon about their performance on Jan 6. Who's running that place anyway? The commander in chief or what? Trump lost the election. His NOT squatting in the White House isn't victory. It's government functioning normally. What next a national holiday because we have no Marshall law? Yet? It could just be that I've been traveling, yea me first time in 15 months, through the south this week. If there's a change of heart in the general populous it's not showing up in Georgia or Tennessee or Kentucky. That is if truck stop rest room graffiti or public mask usage is any indication. Maybe it's just that I'm not accustomed to the regular flag waver crowd so heartily wishing a white potus so much ill. Feeling manipulated more than usual of late.

(42,363 posts)Or they truly believed Antifa would show up for an epic DC Armageddon? Id like to think that our military leaders are not a bunch of self-absorbed chickensh** cowards.

(3,218 posts)More evidence they probably have that we havent been privy to yet? There must be justice. There must be accountability. People need to go to jail.

(3,488 posts)And I was plenty angry before. I do hate the feeling that these people will get away with this-at least in that there won't be any consequences for them...and that makes me even more angry. They tried to take over my government!!! Urg a thousand times than another thousand. How many times do we have to clench our teeth and try not to hurt ourselves with our tightly fisted hands? I am so over this.

(36,234 posts)Trumpers? Antifa? Not getting this. Also, how far away from the Capitol are their houses? If it's several blocks or more, what exactly were they expecting? A massive riot? Or targeted attacks against each one of them specifically? We need answers. Will we get any?

(30,613 posts)They were insurrectionists. And they should have been shot.

(2,486 posts)the streets to protest against a right wing coup. The protesters being shot in the streets by the Myanmar military arent insurrectionists. Once the coup takes place the reaction of the population has to be suppressed.

(30,613 posts)The Pentagon brass aren't stupid. They know which side has all the gunners, and which side does all the damage. They knew the right-wing rebellion was dangerous to them, and to the country. They chose to protect themselves.

(25,896 posts)than what occurred (which was scary enough, tyvm) so of course somebody's first thought was to throw away oaths to the Constitution and protect their homes before protecting elected representatives and the rest of us. They literally left the country undefended to take care of their property first. If only to see them drummed out of the service, we need names. There's just no way this should be allowed to slide.

(5,749 posts)... I think they may be the federal security force, basically police, some not much more than rent-a-cops.
And before this the real troops were approved and were gearing up.

(2,694 posts)Wasn't there a report that T45 had requested ten or twelve thousand troops and the DOD slow walked it. They had a clear idea it was going to run out of momentum by happy hour time and troops would have aided T45's goal to declare martial law. So maybe this time they may have done ok, in hind sight.
I am in favor for DC becoming a state w a governor and a clear National Guard force w/o political appointees in the chain of command.
I am also in favor of investigating this issue of security being deployed to them selves before they moved to protect the civilian political chain of command, Pence, Pelosi and whomever in that line of succession was in danger.
