They cannot accept that there was a violent insurrection within the walls of our Capitol.
They cannot accept that it was incited by a sick and unstable president.
They cannot accept the damage that was done to our democracy.
They cannot accept reality.
They believe that there is no difference between lies and the truth. All that matters is what people can be persuaded to believe. They believe they are superior communicators and can make the majority believe their lies.
Basically, the future of our country is in the hands of the Republican Party. They have the power to preserve our democracy or to destroy it. You cannot make people believe what they do not choose to believe.
Eventually, we all have to agree upon a basic reality.

(34,974 posts)And in that creation: Republicans have chosen sunk-cost fallacy (That is why they will keep supporting QAnon, Trump, and voter fraud conspiracy theories. What? Admit they were wrong? NEVER, time to double down!) and 'owning the libs' as both ideology and policy.
The vulnerability here is that these things are politically, psychologically, and socially 'expensive'. It's harder to justify this to the voting base, even to themselves than anything else.
Our task should be figuring out how to exploit that to our benefit, not making them accept any truth or any other version of reality.
