I just want to believe in this country again.

And I feel some kind of way that I can't safely post that anywhere but here.

I see that I misread the latter statement about where you feel safe posting the sentiment. Apologies for the misreading.

The true sign of a patriot isn't undying and unconditional love for your country. A true patriot recognizes the flaws, accepts that there is work to be done, and works to make their country better. Right wingers with their "Love it or leave it" mentality have poisoned the idea of patriotism.

Our record breaking development of the COVID vaccines and the Mars landing are both testaments to two things. Our scientific abilities and our can do mentality. That plus our undying Democracy and record breaking votes, our election of the first woman VP show our determination to right this country in the span of one presidential term.

We’re good and we’re righteous even though we stumble occasionally.
