An investigation found an official's radio transmission to "all outside units' attention" that they should not be "looking for any pro-Trump in the crowd," according to Lofgren. A Capitol Police official denies her account.

A Capitol Police official radioed units outside of the building on the morning of Jan. 6 and told them only to scout for anti-Trump troublemakers — not pro-Trump protesters, according to Rep. Zoe Lofgren, who described what she said were details of an internal investigation conducted in the aftermath of the mob attack.

Lofgren (D-Calif.) revealed the finding while she questioned Capitol Police Inspector General Michael Bolton, who appeared before the House Administration Committee Wednesday to testify about security failures that precipitated the Jan. 6 attack. Lofgren, who chairs the panel, described the findings as she asked him whether he had read the internal investigation reports.

Lofgren said the department's Office of Professional Responsibility was reviewing information that a radio transmission to "all outside units' attention" that they should not be "looking for any pro-Trump in the crowd," according to Lofgren. She added they were "only looking for any anti-Trump."

Federal authorities Thursday arrested a 30-year-old fencing contractor and CrossFit instructor from Locust Grove for the brutal assault of police officers during the Jan. 6 riot at the United States Capitol.

Authorities believe Jack Wade Whitton Jr. was at the center of some of the most savage fighting between the pro-Trump mob and police at West Terrace entrance to the Capitol where rioters grabbed and stabbed at officers with flag poles and other implements.

In several videos posted online, the man believed to be Whitton is seen repeatedly jabbing at a police line with a crutch as the mob chants “Fight for Trump.” Another video showed him punching an officer, then grabbing him and dragging him into the crowd.

Body camera footage from a prone officer appears to show the same man, wearing a cap, repeatedly stomping on him as another man grabbed the officer’s leg. Further footage shows the man in the cap grabbing a fallen officer and dragging him into the depths of the mob.

The FBI put photos of Whitton on its website dedicated to identifying the Capitol rioters, and included him among those the agency was most eager to apprehend because of their attacks on police officers, three of whom were injured in the melee on the West Terrace steps.

9. This wood sat in storage for 100 years. Now it's being used to fix Capitol riot damage

Only a few people on Earth know where to find a stash of century-old rare mahogany that can be used to repair priceless furnishings damaged on Jan. 6 by a pro-Trump mob that stormed the Capitol.

Robert “Bob” Ross is one of those people.

The acting assistant director of the U.S. Forest Service’s Forest Products Laboratory in Madison, Wis., knew the exact location of a 3,000-pound stack of the wood that was collecting dust. The 78 mahogany boards, likely brought to the Badger State as part of research into airplane propeller materials during World War I, sat in a basement storage stall for a century waiting for a purpose.

“We actually had an allocation from the War Department to put together a propeller research laboratory,” he said. “And I believe these specimens were used in the research.”

While the origin of the wood is hazy, Ross said he’s confident of several facts. The lab originally got it through a New York supplier called I.T. Williams & Sons, which harvested mahogany from places in Central America, Africa and Asia.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia says a Buffalo man is among three men indicted for allegedly assaulting police officers during riots at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th.

35-year-old Thomas Sibick of Buffalo along with Albuquerque Cosper Head of Tennessee and Kyle James Young of Iowa were all indicted on Friday on charges relating to allegedly assaulting Metropolitan Police Officer Michael Fanone, among other crimes.

The men have been charged on the following

obstruction of an official proceeding and aiding and abetting
civil disorder
assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers; entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds
disorderly and disruptive conduct on restricted building or grounds
impeding ingress and egress in a restricted building or grounds
engaging in physical violence on restricted building or grounds
impeding passage through the Capitol grounds or buildings
acts of physical violence in the Capitol grounds or buildings.
Sibick has also been charged with an additional count of robbery.

The FBI calls the Oath Keepers an anti-government militia with current and former law enforcement and military members among its members. 60 Minutes profiles the group, which has become a central focus in the ongoing investigation of the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

More than 400 people have now been charged in one of the most complex investigations the Department of Justice has ever faced – the January 6 attack on the Capitol. The FBI has called it 'an act of domestic terrorism' and one group has grabbed investigators' attention for their role – the oath keepers.

The FBI describes them as an anti-government militia movement. Among them, current and former military and law enforcement. Their name is a reference to the oath they took to defend the U.S. Constitution.

But unlike most other militia groups, we learned the oath keepers haven't been hiding. They've been armed and in plain sight -- broadcasting plans to mobilize.

If you were looking for a roadmap to January 6, all you had to do was listen.

On January 5, 2021, the night before the deadly insurrection at the US Capitol Building, an elite meeting supposedly took place at the private residence of the president at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, DC, just blocks away from the White House.

It was all relayed on the social media account of Charles W. Herbster, a wealthy ranch owner from Falls City, Nebraska, who once ran a failed campaign for governor of the state in 2013, and has just filed paperwork to run again in 2022. Herbster, a long-time fixture in midwestern conservative politics, also served as Trump’s National Chairman of the Agriculture and Rural Advisory Committee at the time of the post.

Herbster documented the clandestine affair that night in a Facebook post, which was first reported by Seth Abramson, and provided an exact list of attendees, as if he were detailing a twisted version of another American Revolution. Charles Herbster listed a group of insiders that could easily be considered the crème de la crème of Trump collaborators — now possibly accomplices:

Frisco, Texas is a wealthy suburb of Dallas known for its quality schools and low taxes -- but now it's gaining a reputation as a breeding ground for right-wing extremism.

The Washington Post reports that a total of 19 local Frisco residents have been charged so far for their roles in the January 6th riots at the United States Capitol building, and the FBI's Dallas field office says that most of the rioters arrested came from the "mainstream of society" and have included "three real estate agents, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, an oilman and an actor who once appeared on the popular television show 'Friday Night Lights.'"

Even though the median household income in Frisco is $97,000, well above the national average, local realtor Hava Johnston says that many Frisco residents have been radicalized as the suburb has become more racially diverse.

The officer said that ex-President Donald Trump’s false claim that the insurrectionists were giving “hugs and kisses” during the attack was “very different from what I experienced and what my co-workers experienced on the 6th.”

Trump’s rosy framing of the attack was “dangerous,” Fanone said.

“I experienced a group of individuals that were trying to kill me to accomplish their goal,” he told Lemon before pausing to take a deep breath.

“Man, I didn’t think I’d get this emotional,” the officer said after a few moments. “I mean, I experienced the most brutal, savage hand-to-hand combat of my entire life, let alone my policing career, which spans almost two decades. It was nothing that I had ever thought would be a part of my law enforcement career and nor was I prepared to experience.”

The head of the House Freedom Caucus, Republican Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona, helped plan the January 6 event that culminated in a storming of the Capitol, according to Ali Alexander, a lead organizer of the gathering. Alexander, a pro-Trump personality, was an early founder of the “Stop the Steal” movement, and helped bring together various right-wing factions around a mass event on January 6, aimed to coincide with objections to the counting of Electoral College votes.

Alexander made his claim in three separate livestreams in late December, adding that Reps. Paul Gosar of Arizona and Mo Brooks of Alabama were also involved. “We’re the four guys who came up with a January 6 event,” Alexander said.
