WTF Oregon Democrats!

This excerpt shows the difference between Democrats and Republicans and knowing how to play hardball

The reshuffling of the congressional map moved seats from blue states to red ones, giving Republicans a clear, immediate advantage. The party will have complete control of drawing the congressional maps in Texas, Florida and North Carolina — states that are adding four seats.

In contrast, though Democrats control the process in Oregon, Democratic lawmakers there have agreed to give Republicans an equal say in redistricting in exchange for a commitment to stop blocking bills.

to blocking bills?

Because recent history has proven that Republicans lie. Constantly. They NEVER keep their word on anything.

You can’t bring knives to a gunfight. We lose when we play “fair” and Republicans don’t....and it would have been fair and within the rules if they told the Oregon Republicans to kick rocks...that extra seat in Oregon just became a right wing Republican seat

that is the right way to do it. We don't "win" if we become the assholes we're trying to beat. And I wouldn't be so sure that the new seat will be red, but then I haven't jumped to conclusions about where the increased population in Oregon occurred. If it's in the Portland metro area, or the North end of the I-5 corridor it would likely be blue.

to save it is to protect it.

Don't despair. Conservatives who don't believe in it have been trying to prevent and then destroy our representative government for 250 years and have never succeeded. We're smarter, and we're stronger because we're more principled and we hold the citadel we created.

We have to stay grounded and work within the rules and laws, even when they don’t. It’s one of the reasons we are still a democracy after all these years..doing the right thing

then nothing can be done. They have repeatedly done this on bill after bill after bill. I am assuming they could do this with redistricting as well. I can only hope that they wait until all the bills are voted on before finalizing the map.
