One way to stop the insane gerrymandering going on in different states?

Do away with the Electoral College.

If there is not an Electoral College, then the vote would be determined by a simple majority. That is the more correct way to vote in a democracy, in my opinion.

If there is no Electoral College, there is no need to gerrymander. The majority in each state would represent that state. (The minority, with clever use of technology, is able to go around our democratic process)

If there is to be an Electoral College, then it should represent the will of the majority in their states.

For example, if a popular vote was so close as to present a recount, then the "Electoral" votes might be evenly split between the Parties? Unless the state had an odd number of Representatives, such as 7, or 11, or 29, then the Party with the majority of votes in that state would get the "odd" number seat.

If one Party won a state by two-thirds of the popular vote, for example, that Party should get two-thirds of the Electoral votes. It would be proportional to the popular vote.

Perhaps they were need to draw the "gerrymandered" districts after the fact, instead of before, in order to reflect the will of the people?

Just an idea.

with the House. The electoral college should be eliminated, but that won't end the problem of republicons using ridiculously drawn districts to keep control of states where even 60% of the population votes "D".

HR1/SB1 is the answer to that, and to the other republicon dirty tricks that suppress democratic voters

The commission always had 8 republican and 8 democrat representative. It was understood that if you gerrymandered a district for the R, then we got to gerrymander one for the Dems.

You ended up with district lines were drawn reasonably, with two wonky ones that protected someone each party wanted to protect.

Wasn't perfect, but it was fair.

All states should go to some equal commission with that kind of understanding.

Wishful thinking I know to think that the current Rethugs would give up any power to do what is right. Could be part if a federal law about congressional representation

25 to republican 26 to democratic areas? I don’t think republicans have enough to fairly give them 10 and that’s generous.
