in broad daylight. Two women stabbed. in separate incident
We need better police presence and a better community response. These attacks on innocent Americans in the middle of the day at random need to stop. We need to stop excusing them due to mental illness or Trump inspired racism. We also need to pressure communities to work with the police to help keep our streets safe from random assaults.

I hope they charge that man with child endangerment on top of assault.

(1,969 posts)without somehow blaming Trump and his apparently magical mind control powers.
Blaming Cheeto Jesus will do nothing about dealing with this recent upsurge in violence against innocent people by bad actors.

(37,748 posts)many people seemingly bring up violent crime when, and only when the alleged perpetrator is a minority.
cinematicdiversions
(1,969 posts)would certainly get coverage, no matter who was perpetrating the crime.
Bold attacks on strangers in broad daylight is terrorism in its simplist form. That is why it is covered.

(2,223 posts)of Trump. Back in my highschool days the Asian kids and the Black kids would always have some lunchtime fight over something or they would talk about jumping each other after school. Never really knew what it was all about since I usually kept to my small group of friends. I had a few confrontations with white and black kids, but that's another story.
I believe these kids fought each other probably because their parents, peers and the media conditioned them to believe in negative racial stereotypes of other races all throughout their life. "That Asian dude over there probably has a small banana" or "Those black kids are probably the ones who stole Mr. Smith's car" They could have stolen someone's girlfriend or done something small to irk someone enough that their already ingrained animosity could have pushed them to violence.
We need to find someway to get parents and the media to actively teach kids that stereotyping and racial prejudices are the wrong or else the cycle of hate will continue. For grown adults who do these things I'm not really sure what to do about them since they might be far too deep in their prejudices to change who they are. I guess Asian people will need to go out with a group or a buddy from now on to feel safe.
