Trump’s inner circle is a narcissist/sociopath symbiosis: a powerful narcissist (Trump) surrounded by sociopaths (Miller, Manafort, Stone, etc.). They feed off each others pathologies.

McMoscow isn’t a narcissist or sociopath as far as I can observe, he’s just “merely” the pinnacle and paradigm of corruption.

Sociopaths and corrupt actors have this in common:

They have no morals.

This is actually deeply troubling to a lot of people on the Republican side of the fence, but they “go along to get along,” just as the proverbial “good Germans” did in the early Nazi era, until it was too late to get out.

If we start making serious noise about moral values, we could reach a lot of those voters and further energize a lot of our own voters."

I would argue that we need to "make serious noise" about the current ABROGATION of moral values... or DISDAIN of them even. We've already been making noise about their hypocritical morals.

The Dark Triad.
(I have been posting this for the last 6 years (every now and then) ever since the orange asshole first mentioned running for president. having grown up in NYC, I knew full well of the trump family grifting empire build on bullshit and mirrors)

One must always keep in mind that being truthful with yourself is usually much more difficult that being truthful in a more general way. I do not see a tsunami, or even a decent-sized ripple, of changed hearts and minds from having truth pointed out to them.

However, the more committed they are to their "ideals," the less likely you are to ever reach them in a meaningful way, let along change their voting patterns. If "straight party ticket no matter what" is a pattern.

The ones that are reachable, or even potentially reachable are the ones we should hope for and (cautiously) expect. The good news is that of, say, 75M voters from the last election, getting 10M to think about it, and 5M to actually be convinced, or shamed into agreement would be a huge win and enough to create a bit of a cushion, voting-wise. 6% of 75M may not seem like a target-rich environment, but when a small sliver of the MUCH smaller undecided is what often wins the election for whichever side, even 3% is a number well worth having.

an effective wedge. I just love the phrase "Moral Nihilism" as a descriptor. Though maybe Moral Vacuum might be more understandable for the folk that are never going to "get it" when you use a phrase they don't understand. Anyway, that small sliver is the target. Reaching them will demand some crafty thinking.
