What is the likelihood that we can get the Voting Rights Act passed.

This is very disturbing what is going on in red legislatures across the country. It is the most important issue right now as far as I am concerned. Can someone talk me down?

not much more. Hate to say it, but unless we can break the stranglehold McConnell has on the Repub caucus in the Senate or we kill the fillibuster, I don't like our chances.

Repubs are on a campaign to maintain minority control of our country.

Manchin is not going to change. The Rethugs will remain in lock step. The filibuster will kill this.

My fear for the courts is two fold:
1) Who will have standing to bring the case before the next election? Especially with as many Federalist society asshats (FSA) as Moscow Mitch put on lower courts, I could see lower courts tossing the suits because no one's rights have been violated by the law (yet)

2) Even with standing, there are enough FSA in every level of the courts -- district, appellate, and supreme to allow this to happen.

These laws could stay. This has been their plan since Karl Rove. They’ve been playing the long game and we haven’t been paying attention.

We’re gonna have to hope that the courts strike down the worst of the red state suppression laws. But even if these laws stand, we must not give in to hopelessness and stay home on Election Day.

If, by the August recess, the filibuster isn’t dead and voting rights hasn’t been passed, then the streets of WV and AZ should be filled with protestors and Manchin and Sinema shouldn’t be able to go to a restaurant without being confronted.

In addition, WV and AZ should be covered in billboards (“what has the filibuster done for West Virginia lately, Joe?”), and the airwaves should be blanketed with a media campaign confronting the two democracy-hesitant senators.

Lastly, Biden and Harris should both go to WV and AZ and grant interviews with local media about voting rights (and the jobs bill if it hasn’t passed). Biden should hold a town hall in WV and invite Manchin to campaign for voting rights with him, or explain why he won’t support killing the filibuster to pass the bill.
