But on Thursday, Fox News propagandist Greg Gutfield shared his vision. He would like to see Putin assassinate Biden.
Do you think he should hold a summit? Should he meet with Putin? The Five panelist Harold Ford Jr. asked Gutfield.
Secret Service Agents should go knock on that a-hole's door and put him under arrest!
Lock him up (and shut down fux $nooze!)

(8,046 posts)Propaganda is a very dangerous form of "free speech", and the Constitution needs to be changed to make sure that anything calling itself "news" does not help our enemies destroy our country.

To start with, anyway.

(6,635 posts)Do you think he should hold a summit? Should he meet with Putin? The Five panelist Harold Ford Jr. asked Gutfield.
Gutfield creepily suggested that Putin may have sinister plans for his encounter with Biden.
Yeah I gotta disagree. If he holds firm, you know, theres going to be something we can get out of this. Theres going to be something If Putin decides to have them killed. Thats something. You know? Its possible, Gutfeld replied while giving his fantasy a thumbs-up.
Fox then immediately went to commercial because what else can they do after one of their bobbleheads gleefully calls for a foreign dictator to murder the American president?

(11,731 posts)I went into the idea of watching the video with skepticism because of all the click bait that is out there. He said, "If we stand firm, then I see it as something we can get something out of.... Then said, "If Putin decides to have them all killed...That's something!" and he gave a Thumbs Up gesture.
No other way to really see this than Gutfeld being supportive of the idea of Putin ordering the killing of Biden or reps of the administration.

(19,197 posts)Not just Russian sympathizers Russian agents, with Donald Trump as the lead agent. They're actively following orders and gathering intelligence for Vladimir Putin.
They see Russia as the ideal country. Men, white men, are in charge, women know their place, it's an authoritarian society, and there are few POC in the population. It's a republican's dream, just like the GQP halcyon days of pre-WWII America.
In other words, they're freaking crazy, and they'd sell out the U.S. in a heartbeat just to turn back the clock. They want a regressive society where they control every aspect of society and government. This, from the "small government", no government interference republicans who never shut up about it.
They love Russia. Simple as that.

(1,428 posts)I still believe that if Trump ever sets foot in the Russian Federation he will be dead within six weeks.
He has served his purpose and with a track record as a traitor to his own country, powerless and of no further use, Putin must eliminate the man who knows the whole story, that is Trump!
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)Individual One knows anything Putin can't just deny, or admit, probably with his usual smirk? A former POTUS fleeing to Russia for "freedom" should offer years of propaganda use too.
Putin has a history of allowing former leaders who were useful to him to escape justice in Russia. Some are/reportedly kept at a village (in what most people would regard as luxury accommodations) not far from Moscow, presumably in case Putin and his intelligence services want anything from them.
Oh, well. I imagine Trump living out his last years in some wilderness "shithole" with Russian winters is way too much to hope. But not to fantasize...!

(2,188 posts)This is pure treasonous propaganda against the US and our democratic way of government.
I'm sure some will argue the "free speech" bullshit, but this goes way beyond free speech. Enough is enough. This is a major news network supporting the assassination of the US president.
Find a law and shut this shit down. NOW.

(3,185 posts)Saying it'd be a good thing for the President to be assassinated isn't illegal. If it were, a lot of people, maybe even some from here on DU, would be in hot water. It's horrible, but it's not illegal.
Threatening to kill the President, on the other hand, is illegal, but that's not what happened here. Gutfeld should lose his job and be persona non grata for his comments, but what he said is protected speech under the First Amendment.

(2,690 posts)I mean, isnt it just hysterical thinking about the assassination of the President of the United States by a foreign power? And the really funny, hilariously funny part is that, if it actually happened, wed really be getting something out of the meeting! Get it? Har-har-har!
Oh, we libs are such snowflake cancel-culture people! Wheres our sense of humor? Rush Limbaugh called Barack Obama the magic negro! Hysterical stuff. But did we laugh? He called 12 year old Chelsea Clinton the White House dog! Our sides should have been splitting. And now Gutfield jokes about the benefits he expects from the murder of the President -- conservatives, at least, are just peeing in their pants laughing at the humor.
P.S. Screw this smarmy little anal cyst. The Secret Service should be on him like mud on a pig, or Trump on Melania, but I repeat myself.

(4,190 posts)This guy is no doubt rich and connected by business or family ties or both. They don't eat their own no matter what party. I fully believe Trump when he said he could shoot somebody on 5th avenue and his supporters would still be behind him. So would the government. He could shoot Biden in the Oval and all we'd hear was how Trump was a President and we need to move on etc etc. I'm at the point of full despair that anything will happen to these criminals. Sure some of the insurrectionists will pay, but they're regular people so they don't matter. But you won't see any congressmen, senators or executives even testifying.

(22,357 posts)"After hinting at attacks on Jewish bankers, Coughlin began to use his radio program to broadcast antisemitic commentary. In the late 1930s, he supported some of the fascist policies of Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and Emperor Hirohito of Japan. The broadcasts have been described as "a variation of the Fascist agenda applied to American culture".[2] His chief topics were political and economic rather than religious, using the slogan "Social Justice". After the outbreak of World War II in Europe in 1939, the Roosevelt administration finally forced the cancellation of his radio program and forbade distribution by mail of his newspaper, Social Justice. Coughlin largely disappeared from the public arena, working as a parish pastor until retiring in 1966. He died in 1979. "

(3,185 posts)Expressing approval of the assassination of a President is disgusting and anti-American, but it's protected speech. Threatening to kill the President is not protected speech, but that's not what he said.
And the call to shut down Fox News is authoritarian nonsense. It boils down to, "I don't like what you say, so you shouldn't be allowed to say it." Thankfully, the First Amendment prevents such a thing.
