A few days ago, this board was inundated with people demanding Garland and DOJ DO something!!!

But now that they're DOING something, the board is filled with shrugs and lots of "So what? It's not going to make any difference" and "I'll believe it when I see it" posts.

What's up with that?

acts like the Republicans refusing to name members to committees, the pandemic, and we can only guess at the shambles left in every branch of government. Especially of course, the DOJ, IRS, Defense, Intelligence, and, and, and.

But based on articles and comments, I felt like we had major visiting from the people working hard to divide the Democratic.

After Fitzmas, the Mueller Report Barr Edition, the revisionist report of the church photo-op, and the Senate 1/6 report that doesn't mention "insurrection", etc etc, yeah. Put me in the "believe it when I see it" crowd.

Even when Democrats make the effort, republiqon cheating seems to thwart it every time. I'll be glad to give Garland the chance to prosecute and jail them. And applaud his stance on voting.

But we're running out of time to get this done. Criminal scum are walking free. Out on bail would be bad enough, but we don't even have that.

I sincerely hope that will not, once again, be the case. But we've been burned by anticipointment way too many times to jump up waving pompoms ever again.

As I was one of the ones asking for DOJ to do something about Arizona I am still not satisfied. What is DOJ doing about a private Qanon company having access to sealed ballots, voting systems, and other election materials that are no longer in the custody of election officials?

I also said DOJ should hurry and act because it is harder to negate a state law that is already passed. Yeah DOJ will file law suits against corrupt election laws which will take how many years to get through the courts? DOJ needed to emphasize that it will question state legislators under oath if they lied about the reasons and data for their new election laws. State legislators need to understand that they can be indicted for passing these corrupt election laws.

IMO DOJ needs to do more. The Senate doing an investigation is a joke since nothing will get out of committee. Jerry Nadler in the House stated he didn't want to hold hearings without giving DOJ a chance to clean house first. So we are at a standstill for bringing Sessions, Barr before a committee.

Seeing as Sessions recused himself from anything Russia, anyone want to bet me that Rod Rosenstein had a hand in this?

But you're also demanding DOJ take actions it has no power to take.

For example, DOJ can't prosecute state legislators for passing "corrupt election laws" or "question state legislators under oath if they lied about the reasons and data for their new election laws." We might not like what they've done, but passing legislation, regardless how odious, is not a federal crime.

Justice matters.

Why do they do that? I do not know, and there may be several different answers.

I've been here so long I remember the same kind of complaints during the Obama Administration. "Why won't he use the bully pulpit" about their pet issue, over and over.

Then, Pres. Obama would give an amazing speech on that very same issue. The response here?

"Talk is cheap."

...and are understandably cynical about government's ability to confront itself.

They need time, too.

There's really no substitute for patiently informing folks about what Garland is actually doing, and public opinion will include more than what people feel about government when that information proliferates.

Lots of work to do.
