Disneyland increases attendance capacity, drops masks and physical distancing as pandemic rules end

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ocregister.com/2021/06/14/disneyland-increases-attendance-capacity-drops-masks-and-physical-distancing-as-pandemic-rules-end/amp/

Disneyland will increase attendance, drop mask requirements for vaccinated visitors, discontinue physical distancing and continue advance reservations as the state ends most COVID-19 health and safety measures.

Disney Parks Chief Medical Officer Pamela Hymel outlined the changes coming to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure once pandemic restrictions end in a letter issued to employees on Monday, June 14

The full reopening of the California economy on Tuesday, June 15 after a 15-month pandemic hibernation will allow theme parks in the state to return to full capacity and end most COVID-19 health and safety measures.

Disneyland will no longer require masks for fully vaccinated visitors starting on Tuesday. Unvaccinated Disneyland visitors are expected to continue to wear a mask — except while dining.

Great.

We'll be back where we started in no time, only this time fewer will comply.

Disney World in Florida has been operating without all the restrictions for a bit, though they require masks etc. And they've not been a hotbed of contagion. I think that the business is doing everything right in order to maintain safety for the public and the employees. Lots is outdoors. The lines have been social distanced, but levels of the virus in Claifornia are low enough to take those restrictions away.

This is a positive thing.

Disneyland has had WAY more restrictions than Disney World. THey're in a good place now. Let them ease up.

We have people on the forum who clearly fit that bill. You can practically feel the wishful thinking about the delta variant.

Granted until they can vaccinate younger kids it's not really certain how over it is.

I've already been to stadiums and restaurants, and I've got several concerts already lined up. Though I do see this kind of thing here and everywhere on the internet. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Even my brother, who is an ER doctor, has said that he thinks the worst of this is behind us. So I would like to think that.

I was supposed to go see Motley Crue there last year but that show's getting moved back to 2022.

I might have to make an excuse and go to a Rams or Chargers game in November! I was also thinking of taking a trip to Vegas and hitting up the new Raiders stadium.

epidemiologists live for this sort of thing.

Outbreaks in unvaccinated states.

Outbreaks in the vicinity of theme parks, and then follow the spread when visitors head home.

Outbreaks associated with sporting events.

This ain't over, by a long shot.

both tested positive and have symptomatic Covid infections. She is also fully vaccinated and lives with them. She doesn't have any symptoms herself yet. She is supposed to sing at a large indoor church event tonight. She didn't know if she should stay home in case she is positive too. I told her that the CDC guidelines say if she is fully vaccinated and exposed to people with Covid, she doesn't need to quarantine if she doesn't have any symptoms. So she is going to go to the event and hope for the best.
