They’re “allowed” to do it because the rules are on their side.

The press is reporting that they’re doing it, I don’t know that they’re supposed to speculate on why. That’s for op-eds and pundits.

The Republicans are just better at the game. They’re ruthless and let nothing stop them.

They’ve been at it for quite a long time. They’ve made this hyperpartisan shit the norm since the 90’s.

It's literally the Hill they're willing to die on... (Agent Mike, that's hyperbole)

They'd rather pass universal on demand abortion and gun bans rather than S1.

We recently held national and local elections and more people voted than at any point in history.

The election was amazingly clean considering both the scope and scale. Truly might have been the most clean election in modern political history.

There was a time black people couldn't vote and that time is still counted toward our democracy.

There was a time when women couldn’t vote and that time is still counted toward our democracy.

Votes are still being suppressed and we count it toward our time as a democracy.

Democracy is easier to lose than it is to maintain. Maintaining a democracy, in its many forms, requires a daily and relentless fight.

We are best suited for that fight today than at any point in history. That’s one of the reasons our democracy is thriving, even in the wake of its relentless opposition.

We have problems. Serious problems. Things aren’t even close to perfect. This isn’t some form of denial about the problems we face. What I am saying is that our form of democracy isn’t even close to dead.

Fight for voting rights like you pound on your keyboard. We have more diverse representation now than at any point in history. Demographics are favoring the side fighting for the expansion of voting rights.

We are winning, not losing.

Republicans have consistently purged, obstructed and just plain cheated the make voting very difficult, particularly for people of color.

Doesn’t negate a word I said.

I reread my original post and want to apologize to you, and others. While typing I thought the keyboard line of mine was innocuous, if not a bit funny. Reading it again it comes off as the comment of a real jackass. While not my intentions my second read made it clear to me how it really comes across. My bad.

That’s just not going to happen.

If you live through the lens of a single day the emotional rollercoaster is going to be insane and void of any true perspective.

And yes, I feel like we are winning today. I’m extremely happy with what we are putting forward and fighting for.

This is all going to get worse before it gets better. I never thought minorities pushing toward equal representation while gaining power at the ballot box was going to be pretty. Just the opposite. The death throes of political white supremacy is underway.

Look, I truly admire your optimism. But I live in Texas and I see what the GOP is getting away with. The throes of white supremacy are alive and well down here. More accurately stated, the good ole boy networks. They don’t like women whether white or otherwise.

They don't want to govern democratically, they want to rule autocratically. By crippling voting, controlling the media, cutting education, neutering the press, killing unions, they assure that the masses have no means to contest their control. Having means to contest control cuts into their profits, and they cannot have that, so they abolish those means, and keep their thumbs on the rest of us. That's why they're killing us and crushing our democracy. They take "E Pluribus Unum" literally, and they want the "unum" to be one of theirs.
