(31,261 posts)She may be like the 11 year old boy from a decade or so back who was a conservative darling. He grew up and rejected his past beliefs.
She may be smart, but as a 9 year old, she has not seen much of the real world. Give her some time.

(31,261 posts)She may get home-schooled through 18 and then go to a Christian college. So yes, she may well become a tunnel-vision adult.

(13,493 posts)it's true that many people grow with experience. I listened to one minute of her speech and I hated it for so many reasons. But she is a child and she will grow (hopefully away from this). My fear is that this attention she is getting will embolden her and her family to search out more.... radicalizing her speech.

(63,221 posts)I blame her parents, but in 10 years she will be an adult and if she doesn't change her views then she will just be one of them and there will be no excuse for her.
I have to say that I have rarely seen such arrogance in someone of that age. She could use a little humility.

(12,649 posts)But we've been reading to her since she was two, not just Dr. Seuss, but classics like The Hobbit, Wind in the Willows, Twain short stories. And we always patiently explained concepts when she had questions. We didn't sugar-coat or baby-fie any of her reading.
To be a good writer, you need to be a good reader.
So, even if she's homeschooled and coached up the wazoo by her oh-so-christan middle class bigot parents, it is possible for her to write a decent premise paper, no matter how misguided.
I actually hope she did write it herself. If she did, she is capable of enough imagination and native intelligence she can break the hold of her upbringing.

(20,840 posts)I bet her parents are horrible human beings that wrote most of that. It's a form of child abuse.

(15,381 posts)Once they get a little bit older, they tend to "come out" so to speak and say they weren't really understanding what they were saying - just parroting what they were told to say - and renounce their past speeches. Johnathan Krohn was the last one I remember.
