As I earned my California teaching credentials in secondary language arts, secondary history and social studies and elementary education, the pendulum had swung away from direct teaching of spelling-things like lists, pre-tests and tests. It can be a grind, but any experienced teacher can make it work for a range of students. Unfortunately it fell into disfavor and, in my opinion, it was a loss.

who are getting so bent out of shape. The people in the photo on the right look more like grandparents. I know my boss and his wife are freaked out about it. They're 64 and 57 and have 3 grandsons. I realize there are some younger Q-pers and Proud Boyz, but I don't personally know anyone under 40 who doesn't recognize that we continue to have a big race problem.
