Nine times out of ten my bumper stickers invite some measure of positive conversation in parking lots. Today wasnt one of those.
There I was, loading groceries into my car, and I heard someone approaching. So I turned in their direction, thinking to greet whoever it was, but I didnt get the chance. As soon as I turned he shoved his belly toward me and put his chin up and smirked, So you like soshulizm, huh? I answered, Why, yes. I like libraries, and the VA, and the fire department, and highways ---
He cut me off, scowled at me and sneered, Well, youll probably love it when the shit comes down, yer in the right party for it! I thanked him for that, then he and his indignation stomped off, turning to mutter a couple epithets in my direction. I smiled and wished him a nice day.
And Id bet that right about now hes regaling his buddies with his tale about his very courageous confrontation with an old lady on oxygen and using a walker.

(70,674 posts)I always wear my Navy ship/Vietnam ball cap and it used to "trigger" wingnuts to thank-me-for-my-service. If they were wearing magat paraphernalia I refused to shake hands, whatever.
Some of them were shocked. One dude who ran up to me to shake hands, wearing the magat red cap, stopped in his tracks when I said, "No (Trump) for me," and he said, amazingly, "No AMERICA for you!"
All that stuff seems to have faded away in the past 2-3 years?
