https://covidactnow.org/?s=2071991Go to covid act now at that link.
At the bottom of the "Compare all" section, click "see all".
Sort the states by infection rate.
There are now only 3 states/territories with an infection rate below 1.0
They'll be above 1.0 in a few days.
In a month, cases in many states will be like the worst it was after the holidays.

(23,810 posts)Doubled jabbed, but I wear mask. And many that are not vaccinated and don't know are fucked.

(4,999 posts)Believe a bunch of crazy political hacks, or looney conspiracy theorists who claim to have "natural" cures should you get sick.
Or believe seasoned epidemiologists, virologists and health professionals that have studied mRNA vaccines for almost a decade, created extremely safe protection for humans -- oh, and the jab is free.
The mass hysteria is at epidemic levels.

(23,810 posts)I am OK with that. Just don't kill Democrats.

(4,999 posts)I hope folks who couldn't get the jab because of medical conditions can stay safe!

(4,999 posts)I researched them quite a bit and am impressed by their choices in data sources, and modeling.
They are usually a day behind world-o-meters, but world-o-meters is kind of a flakey outfit -- they will not disclose their data sources, or their methods, they only want to be first at putting out a number.

(33,915 posts)It is my go-to site. Only once were they wildly off, and they corrected that within an hour and posted an explantion when they corrected the error about the source of the error and the basis for the correction.
They continuously update their data (including data back to the beginning of the pandemic as their sources correct the information.)
Here is information about their methods and sources: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/about/

(1,263 posts)instead of "daily new cases per 100K", which is grouping both the vaccinated AND unvaccinated.
I know there are breakthrough infections, and not to minimize the situations of those to whom that happens, but they're a very small fraction of all infections. If you ignore those, you can calculate the percent unvaccinated (1 - percent vaccinated)), then find the daily new cases per 100K unvaccinated by dividing the daily new cases per 100K by the percent unvaccinated.
Using today's numbers from the covidactnow.org page, the ten worst states for daily new cases per 100K unvaccinated are:
Florida 68.6
Missouri 60.9
Arkansas 60.2
Nevada 48.5
Louisiana 43.0
Utah 33.3
Kansas 28.6
Alaska 28.2
Arizona 27.9
Alabama 27.6
Isn't this a whole lot more meaningful?

(4,999 posts)That's what infection rate helps you with understanding -- are cases rising day by day or declining day by day? We'd like to see the infection rate < 1.0 everywhere so that the epidemic is waning.
new cases/100k only tells the severity of the epidemic on that day, not whether it's generally getting better or worse.

(1,263 posts)My point was, why are daily new cases per 100K reported instead of daily new cases per 100K unvaccinated? The latter lets you see the severity of covid among the unvaccinated, one state (or other geographic region of your choice) relative to another. If two states have the same "daily new cases per 100K," the one with the higher % vaccinated will also have a more severe daily new cases per 100K among the unvaccinated.
Post #700! Only took me 12.75 years.

(4,999 posts)And even tried to back my way into that statistic with some algebra.
What muddies the waters that that vaccinated individuals are being infected with delta, and becoming symptomatc. There is no question about that. What is a question is what % of vaccinated individuals *can* have symptomatic infections. And that requires a controlled trial.
Congrats on post #700!

(9,988 posts)then that's time to worry about it.
"eat healthy and exercise" is completely common knowledge.
The Delta variant is now killing a lot of previously healthy young people and maiming others.

(32,773 posts)Only two.
Although, I have full confidence in the vaccines' abilities to personally fend off hospitalization, serious illness, and death.
I'm resuming my full COVID protocols for two reasons... I'd rather not get the 'rona at all. Then, for those the vaccines may not be appropriate for due to condition, little children, and those who are acting like little children.
The rest of you idiots need to get VACCINATED. You're making no point other than what a gullible moron you are. Every single one of these people who are pushing you not to get vaccinated and to become a statistic to 'own Biden' are themselves vaccinated. Every. Last. One. Let that sink in.

(14,846 posts)My nephew's wife, in the Las Vegas area.
They're both Facebook conspiracy-following idiots! I heard that nephew, at a Christmas family reunion, talking about "chemtrails" that poison people years ago!
Even my evangelical-nut sister, that nephew's mother, thinks they're crazy! She was vaccinated months ago, as soon as it was available for her age group.
I bite my tongue about it, but I feel like telling her, "That's what happens when you send one of your kids to a Bible school instead of a regular high school!" (All of her other children, who aren't conspiracy kooks, went to regular schools with better educations in science.)
