PORT ORANGE, Fla. -
A Florida family grieving the loss of their mother has found some consolation thanks to the efforts of a Volusia County veterinary office.
...
"I just saw like a blur of white and grass and I realized we had been hit. And I saw my dad and I saw that he was OK. And I saw Jeff and saw that he was OK, but I saw Chris and she didn't talk and she didnt move," said Elyssa Houseman as she explained how her stepmother, Chris Goss, was killed in the accident.
There was another family member also lost that night. Tasha, an 11-year-old lab mix, flew through the back window, and no one could find her after the crash.
..
Then, just one day after Goss' funeral, the call came. Tasha was found alive.
"Tasha coming home was the first time we had all smiled in six days," said Amanda Goss.
Tasha made it home thanks to a vigilant Volusia County Animal Control Officer who found the dog wandering the woods near the crash site and the efforts of the people at the Ravenswood Veterinary Clinic in Port Orange.
