Covid-19 and obituaries.

I gave up on my newspaper a couple of years ago after the delivery guy insisted throwing it in the driveway on the lawn, everywhere except the newspaper box.
Now I have to look on-line, sometimes even with smaller weekly's or the did you hear, to find out who passed.

This pass week 3 friends or acquaintances gone, those I know. It is the ones that died over a year ago the obit pops up, and you do the oh, no, no him...then you see it was last March. Many people don't do obits anymore because it costs over $100 to publish. Times sure changed from when we had obituary editors, at least a name showed up. Our historic society gathers local obits for those that might come looking sometime in the future.

A lot of memorials are now taking place, it's like reliving 2020 all over again.

1. I hope the survivors are finally able to find a little bit of closure

Closure. I hate that word. There is no closure. There can eventually be acceptance of the facts, but I don't think it's really "closure".

Sounds like delivery of your papers there is as bad as it is here. I quit getting the paper delivered a lot of years ago because it started coming later and later, and I got tired of being irritated about it. Most days there wasn't much in it anyway.

My neighbor still gets the Sunday paper. She has pretty bad arthritis these days, and asked repeatedly for the paper to be tossed up farther on her sloped driveway so it would be easier for her to get. They won't do it, so every Sunday morning I go out and get it and prop it up beside her front door. She feels guilty about it, but I told her I don't at all mind, but I sure would mind if I looked out and saw that she fell while trying to get it, so she just needed to let me continue to do it.
