https://www.cnbc.com/2021/07/28/ford-reinstates-mask-mandates-at-facilities-in-missouri-and-florida.htmlFord is reinstating mask requirements for workers and visitors at facilities in Missouri and Florida, both of which are considered emerging hot spots for a new Delta variant of the coronavirus.
The company also will require U.S. employees planning international business travel to be vaccinated against Covid-19, Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker confirmed Wednesday.
The health and safety of our workforce continues to be our top priority. With a data-driven approach to our global COVID-19 protocols and the increase in cases in specific U.S. regions, Ford is reinstating face mask protocols in select states, Felker said in an emailed statement. We will continue to evaluate COVID-19 case data to make further protocol changes.

(31,109 posts)Hope I am wrong...i wish I had been wrong when I said, many times for many years that repubs, especially MAGA will have no problem AT ALL killing us.
January 6 removed any doubt.

(31,109 posts)trump really is what I have called him for over 5 years, the dumbest adult alive.
Trump has no brain function as we think of it, his brain operates the way the brain of a rabid dog does.
So trump wants them to do something that is very stupid, what is new! And DeSatan and the GOP in most red states from here on in have NO intention of certifying ANY race they lose. So there is that.

(1,977 posts)If things don't change with the anti-mask nonsense immediately. Especially in schools.
Kids are going to spread this to both a)teachers/administrators and then go home and spread it to b)their parents(who will in turn go to work and spread it to co-workers). Some of those who are vaccinated will get it, not know it and spread it to others. Being that Florida is a vacation destination, it will spread back to other States quickly.
This is the inevitable result when one party in a two-party system abandons all principals and platforms and decides they will just oppose anything "the other side" is for or wants. That is why we are here. "Liberals want masks, so we must be against masks". It is really that simple.

This isn't really rocket science. When dealing with respiratory illnesses that spread airborne, wear masks. Where there is an effective vaccine, get it.

(1,849 posts)She is a home health aide, immunocompromised from her first covid infection in February 2020.
She caught it this time from an elderly (90+) vaccinated couple, who are homebound and never leave the house... except their vaccinated son came for a visit and took them out to eat, inside, exposed to Florida covid germs for several hours on Friday. Their immune systems couldn't protect them. My cousin spent the weekend with them, they started feeling bad on Sunday, she felt ill Monday, admitted to hospital Tuesday, coma Wednesday and Thursday, found out Friday after her fever broke that couple had gotten it, infected her, and were in a hospital too.
She wasn't intubated, but is on oxygen and now having respiratory therapy. Got COPD after first time, now it's gotten worse. She's not a smoker. Her son and boyfriend also got it but they weren't vaccinated and didn't end up in hospital.
I had planned a visit in August to see her, but now I won't set foot in Florida for months.
Heading north to the beach instead. Happy to spend my tax dollars in NY and NJ. My trip there last summer got cancelled due to covid.
She said there are 2 floors of covid patients, not counting ICU, and many are kids. She hates her governor.

(1,849 posts)And I have continued to wear one since getting vax in April.
I was often told (throughout my childhood) I'm too smart for my own good. I went on to study psychology and applied statistics in grad school.
My good brain and statistical training told me "they" don't really know what's going on, from the very beginning of this pandemic; trend analysis can change significantly over time, data reported is incomplete and changes weekly. And my common sense told me if (pre-vaccine) we can be asymptomatic and spread it, and with the vaccine our bodies can fight the infection, then we could be asymptomatic and still spread it or catch it from others who are vaccinated and asymptomatic. Seems like the medical community is figuring that out now.
The mask cha cha is not a dance I like.
Don't need to wear one, should wear one, must wear one, don't need to wear one....
Who wants to play a nice game of Russian roulette? Not I. Just wear a damn mask!
And Personally, I don't mind wearing a mask. Especially since we are back at square one.

(1,849 posts)After having covid in February 2020, which they couldn't even diagnose then, she got long haul covid, developed lupus, Ra and COPD, and cognitive issues. Her dad had developed lupus at age 63, she got it at 59 because covid brought it out, hastened it in her. Her MD advised her to wait because of her lupus and liver function. I know someone else with a liver condition who was also advised not to get it.
Some with autoimmune conditions who get vax may not get much protection. She was being very careful, but unmasked with her vaccinated patients who infected her.

(305 posts)you ask me. He's leaving it up to floridians to wear or not wear a mask. If corporations want you to wear a mask then you wear a mask. Period. It's very simple if you ask me. Those who are against masks don't get mad, those for masks wear them. It's a win win

(61,846 posts)Masks will again be required at indoor county facilities in Floridas populous Miami-Dade following new federal guidance recommending that even people vaccinated against COVID-19 should wear facial coverings. And in Orange County, home to Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort, the mayor went a step further and announced all 4,200 nonunion county employees will be required to get their first coronavirus vaccine shot by the end of August, and the second shot by the end of September.
