TAMPA, Fla. As Florida continues to see a surge in COVID-19 cases from the delta variant, the latest forecast from the Mayo Clinic offers up a sobering look at what is likely coming for the state just one day before school starts.
According to the Mayo Clinics COVID-19 forecast tool, almost all of Florida will have cases above 100 per 100,000 and most of the counties around Tampa will be reporting more than 1,000 new cases of COVID-19 per day.
Statewide, the Mayo Clinic forecast tool said Florida will be reporting a seven-day rolling average of 49,398 cases of COVID-19 per day by August 9, a 132% increase from the current numbers. The overall range showed Florida could be reporting just 31,357 cases on the low end or 83,548 on the high end.
Looking at the county level, the numbers show a rapidly spreading disease. Hillsborough County is expected to be reporting 3,744 new cases of COVID-19 daily and will have 277 cases of COVID-19 per 100,000. If those numbers prove accurate, Hillsborough will see an increase in daily cases and per 100,000 cases of 152% from todays numbers. While thats high, other counties will see an even larger jump.

Ohio 'Man' represents, surpasses Texas Man, Iowa Man & Florida Man for most references.
I knew they were Florida of the North, but never expected them to be the silent majority.

(44,973 posts)Fl is not one of the lowest vaxxed states. Obviously their governor has a lot of blame for this.

(24,455 posts)I'd be giving serious consideration of moving on. The 1st year was bad enough, but a future of Republican induced COVID would make me reconsider staying in FL.

(23,091 posts)I can't help that I was born here and my 2 children live here with their partners and everyone has jobs here. Unless i want to leave my family, here is where I will be. I live in one of the worse hit areas, it's massive here. Funny, vaccine rates in my area have gone up 4% in the last week. If these fuckers had just acted sooner, we wouldn't be where we are.
I HATE maskholes!

(1,979 posts)and I've been in bed since yesterday morning feeling ill. I'm fully vaccinated, and I hope I don't have this thing.... but people in Florida are so IGNORANT i just don't know. I have a condition called hypogammaglobulinemia which means I pretty much have a compromised immune system on my best days.
I never stopped sanitizing and masking and I do everything I can to keep safe, but the idiots around me in Florida they are going to get people like me killed.
Namaste,
Annette
