My thoughts on Cheney and Kinzinger

They will most likely lose their seats after next year's election. They may not survive a primary, or they may just retire. I suspect they will be OK with that. It seems to me that they gave no more fucks to give about that.

I wouldn't count Cheney out, either. She's raised a lot of money. Also, if this select committee reveals as much as it should, standing up to Trump might be seen in a good light, even among Republicans. I think they're both going to come out of this looking pretty damned good.

If the district is drawn so it's boundary is farther east and north, it will become more bluish purple.
His immediate predecessor was a dem. Then parts of my county were drawn into a different district. Prior to that the seat was held by a quite moderate R.
That created a reddish purple district. Went easily for Dolt 45 in 2020, but dems won this district for other offices. Obama won this district at least once, but that may have been before the lines were redrawn.
The population drain is focused around Chicago itself and the bigger cities in central Illinois. The redraw, managed by a dem assembly, might harm Rs in more remote areas as they get consolidated.
That could shrink Il-16 geographically and throw some rubes into a different district.

She, like other anti-Trumpers, will soon figure out it is a waste of time.

She might find new life in starting a new political party.

Sadly, I no longer consider the vast majority of their fellow party members to be loyal opposition.

and if he tries to run again, she'll run against him for the GOP nomination.

I think she's determined to turn that party around!
