Breakthrough infection reporting sucks!

Breakthrough infections appear to be rare but the reporting by states isn't very good. Half the states don't seem to keep stats. Others don't report very often. The CDC stopped keeping track of asymptomatic breakthroughs in May. You would think they would want that info in light of the recent evidence of transmissibility. There is some information but we could use a lot more.

with no corresponding report of unvaccinated people getting sick. It's as if everyone really is vaccinated, and the only cases are the breakthrough ones.

But it doesn't seem to be out there. If you can transmit while being asymptomatic, you would think they would want to know how many there are. The CDC does surveys.

Despite all the hysterical click bait headlines, the big picture reality is that the large majority of vaccinated people are protected from severe illness and death should they become infected with the delta variant.

The poor reporting by the MSM is getting translated via social media to “they lied to us, vaccines don’t work, and now they want us to wear masks again and get booster shots”. This is coming from average people, not Anti vax RWNJs.
