In hindsight, I wish that it had not become law, he said at a news conference on Tuesday.
In March, when covid-19 cases were declining, Hutchinson allowed a statewide mask mandate to expire. About a month later, he signed a bill that barred local officials from requiring face coverings.
Now, Hutchinson wants to undo that legislation. On Tuesday, he called for a special session to reevaluate the ban.

(17,164 posts)the law with his signature on it.
When irresponsible and immoral ghouls like this turd engage in reactionary political virtue-signalling that interferes with public health policies formulated by experts, people get killed -- in an entirely predictable manner.
Kids are going to die because of this law, and he's going to say it's not his fault because he called for the law to be overturned (after signing the damn thing for personal gain).

(29,859 posts)The governor has doubled down on never issuing any public health mandates and trying to take all power away from local health departments. The Attorney General in Missouri is issuing lawsuits against any Missouri city or county that issues a mask order.

(20,322 posts)It's one thing to refuse to enact a statewide mask mandate, but going to such lengths to prevent local governments, school systems, etc. from making decisions for their own localities seems like a whole extrw level of crazy, as well as an unnecessary power grab.
Of course, I don't understand much of anything about the way these red state governors have responded (or failed to respond) to the pandemic, but this particular aspect baffles me almost more than anything else. There's something so perverse about it. It's like these governors are saying, "I'm not just going to PASSIVELY stand by and let the people of my state infect each other with a deadly disease; I'm also going to ACTIVELY make damned sure nobody else can stop them from doing it. WTAF?

governor 'worthless' parson of Missouri is as partisan as one can get, and I wish that one day, the worthless efforts that these people spearheaded in zero efforts to stifle the spread of Covid will result in murder charges against everyone of these thugs or at least a class action lawsuit be enacted against everyone of these republican thugs.

(29,859 posts)In Warrensburg so we won't have a mask mandate.
If you know anyone sending a kid to University of Central Missouri let them know there will never be a mask mandate, social distancing doesn't exist and we have a 21% vaccination rate. Supposedly masks and social distancing hurts businesses. I personally think parents pulling their students out of the local university for safety issues will hurt the local economy far more.
