Biden and Pelosi are case studies for the argument against term limits.

Biden’s experience makes him especially adept at wading through the DC cesspool.

Kudos to them both.

America is blessed to have them.

whom term limits would not have protected us from - in fact, term limits would give us many more of them and their ilk and completely prevent us from having Pelosis and Bidens and Lewises and Durbins, etc.

We now at least have a right to choose experience over "new blood" or vice versa. Term limits would take away our ability to choose and force us to always have inexperienced "fresh faces," whether we want them or not.

I agree with the OP wholeheartedly.

However, the wisdom to maneuver thru the last 8 months alone, as the more Established Dems have done was by the wisdom of their yesrs.
We can simply offer a sincere bit of gratitude & respect for each of their accomplishments.

Or start a running list.

Being in the Senate is apparently such a great gig that folks don’t step aside when they probably should.

The legislature can pass a law that the governor must replace a vacating member of Congress' seat with a member of the same party. Other states have this law. And the new governor can veto it, but his/her veto will be over ridden by Democratic supermajorities in both houses of the legislature. Easy fix, actually.

And anyone coming into politics that already has name recognition.

Plus, even going back to the start of our country, we had people serving in Congress for many terms, and it was never an issue back then.

I don't want my choice of candidates restricted by term limits.

And it is funny the same people pushing term limits for Congress don't want to touch Federal and Supreme Court judges now that it is dominated by conservatives. Funny how that works.

by getting rid of Democrats. Case in point - Susan Collins. She originally ran on a promise to only serve 2 terms if elected. She lied.

but I believe in let the people vote, that is what primaries are for, if you think they are too old. Experience is needed in all levels of government.

…who don’t believe in government in the first place. Office-holders get turfed out just about the time they figure out how everything runs — the only people who “serve” a long time or even forever are paid lobbyists, who are only too happy to show newbies the ropes.

And then of course there’s the recall option, perfect for the party that didn’t win in the regular election cycles but still has a lot of money left over.

When some people here start waxing on about term limits for the US House and Senate, I look on the prospect with deep suspicion.

I really am grateful for the deep experience of people like Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden.
