The democrats in DC has to get off their collective asses.

I will give you one example. The capital riot was on Jan 6th. Pols did not get going on a committee and seat it until around Aug 18. They had ONE meeting and then went on a seven-week vacation. Why was all this time wasted when they know 22 is coming fast and if the House is lost, so in the investigation. All the while the republicans have been going crazy all over the country from new voting laws, abortion, and now we know where the supreme court will be. We have two rogue congress people that are hell-bent on stopping anything we want to do. What have we heard through all of this from the Democratic leaders? Crickets. If leadership does not start to show some balls on issues then we will lose everything in 22 and the WH in 24.

1. It's on the failed voters of 2016, actually.

2. Does that make it OK?

If the OP didn't contain truth, maybe there wouldn't have been so many "failed voters".

16. Oh, and the failed voters of 2004, and 2000, and 1988, and 1984, and 1980...

How exactly does that help us move the needle now? I don't get the point of the backward-looking blaming. It just messes with your mind.

20. But it's now again the Democrats!

"The democrats in DC has to get off their collective asses"

Default to "democrats in DC" when the truth requires personal ownership.

21. You are bitterly blaming people who aren't here. 99.5% of DUers are reliable voters.

So your bitterness has no positive effect. We can do ZERO about the outcome of past elections. On the other hand, we can pressure our lawmakers to do more, in the here and now.

23. What are you even saying? Who's Bitterly blaming who?

Appears the OP is bitterly blaming the
"The democrats in DC has to get off their collective asses".

Which Democrats in DC? All? Some?
99.5% of Democrats in DC?
Speaking of bitterly blaming! Wow.
"The democrats in DC has to get off their collective asses"

Because I am certain there's a great number who have towed the legislative line against an intentional method of stalling by Republicans & a fair share of those D's who prefer another neans to an end.

"The democrats in DC has to get off their collective asses". Is an insulting accusation to those who have been doing their required job, above & beyond & against the odds.

Looking at the past, no action is possible.

3. I have no problem with what the House is doing,

Speaker Pelosi tried to set up a commission to do the investigation but the GQP stonewalled it. Speaker Pelosi had to "waste the time," (sarcasm) because she expected she would get heat for doing a partisan select committee. Seeing as she got 2 Republicans to serve on the committee this shows to me she did the right thing. Remember, Congress can only investigate, it has no authority to bring criminal charges. If you want to go after someone go after our DOJ, it has a lot more clout than a select committee and it can bring criminal charges.

9. I generally agree....

But if we need to subpoena phone records and the like, delays are more likely to mean that the they Republicans will be able to hold those up until after the 2022 elections.

11. Are you claiming that our leadership has no room for improvment?

I don't see the OP's post as "bashing Democrats." When inferring that any criticism is "bashing" we begin to sound like the folks on the other side. Our President and our Representatives in Congress are not without flaws; they are human.

12. Yeah it is bashing.

The OP makes no reference to how they are sitting on their asses. Just makes the claim that they are. That is unsubstantiated. The OP needs to state how Dems are not doing what they should.

26. Perhaps someone should have asked what his choice of words meant to him/her.

I would also like to see us moving faster with a progressive agenda. We may only have a short window to work with. The OP showed a little impatience with the pace of progress, he/she was not being a heretic. I won't quibble over their choice of words.

We are supposed to be about a free exchange of ideas among progressives, I think we could be a little more "liberal" with what we find to be "acceptable" language and a little less quick to accusing someone of being unfaithful to the cause.

Just my opinion.

We can always expect to be reminded of our place among liberals, progressives, indys, &, those collective democrats' asses!!

👍💙

5. We don't need every single detail

We know that Jim Jordan and Kevin McCarthy are in the cross hairs of the committee. We know McCarthy is so backed up against a wall that he has threatened the telecoms.

I trust the process and the people on the committee.

They don't have four years - they have about a year from now. Just in time to nail electeds from the GOP to the wall for the mid terms.

I hope they drag this out nice and slow for maximum impact in the midterms.

The biggest deal right now are the two voting bills. Get that done - and it's a one two punch of decimating our opposition in November 2022.

If you have an idea on what could be done then I am sure the leadership democrats in DC would collectively love to hear it.

8. I have posted my idea several times,

I have no problem with the House, I am not Chuck Schumer but if I were this is what I would have already done; bust up S1 into a dozen individual bills and bring each bill up for a vote. When the GQP votes down every damn bill then go to Manchin and Sinema and tell them you expect them to vote in favor of a carve out for the filibuster for election/voting bills.

Doing nothing or saying nothing can be done is not an option, our democracy is at stake.

10. As long as Manchin and Sinema are standing in the way

of ending the filibuster and/or voting against this legislation, it won't matter. And there are no Republican votes for it at all. If Manchin and Sinema were willing to end the filibuster to pass at least some of the bill, I'm sure Schumer would do it but at the moment all we would be looking at is a series of failed votes.

14. The failed votes,

would be used to garner public outrage at Manchin and Sinema if they refuse to do filibuster carve out. These bills that the GQP will vote down are very popular bills. When the GQP votes down a bill that allows giving water to people standing in line to vote it will outrage the public. Let Manchin and Sinema own the no brainer voting bills that the people want.

Saying nothing can be done is not an option.

19. The narrative is extremely important.

The MSM controls the narrative and that puts Democrats behind the 8 ball. Holding rapid fire votes on no brainer voting bills will change the narrative. Cable news is good at propaganda, I believe that I am the only person left on earth who calls Trump's border wall what it really is, a fence.
