that there was a BIG turnout in San Diego, especially for an off season election. I think people are sick (no pun) of anti-vaxxers being the big mouths we see in the media. Also, Elder was a terrible choice if the GQP were really serious about winning. He was extremely disliked.

Faulconer they would have done much better since he isn't a crazy nut like Elder is. I guess I am glad they ran with a crazy nut, in this state anyway.

Which was actually lucky for CA Dems.

If he ran on his reasonably moderate record from being mayor of pro business and civil rights in San Diego, especially with his middling acceptance to address climate change and homelessness, he could have peeled off enough Indies, moderate Repubs, and dissatisfied Dems to make up for GQP zombies that went for Elder.

It would have been a lot closer if the media decided not to go with the easy outrage circus that Elder brought and sucked the air out of his "brand".

I wouldn't be surprised to see him run more moderate, like a Pete Wilson, when it comes to the Gubernatorial race next year.

Pro business and Techie Dem voters could be attracted to him because "he worked across the aisle" when Mayor. While the GQP convinced him to flirt with Trumpism for this recall, we ignore that aspect of his past experience at our peril.
