being socially promoted and in many cases they actually graduate without even knowing how to read (effectively) or write. It is simply a question of priorities - we do not put education very high on the list. I also think that many parents want to be their children's friends instead of preparing them for life's tough lessons. That might be OK for those that have opportunity but for most people education is the answer to a better life.
