With the events on Saturday I am worried what they May try with the White House. I hope the Secret Service is putting extra people on duty.

(18,486 posts)The occasional fence jumper notwithstanding, the grounds are much more defensible than the Capitol and Supreme Court.

(18,486 posts)But it might help to know that the White House is protected by entirely different authorities and under different protocols than the Capitol and Supreme Court. Even full-blown protection and attention to those places won't in any way distract or detract from protecting the White House and president.

(18,486 posts)Not even close to being the same.
The White House is actually surrounded by an illusion. It's important for the American public to view the president and "The People's House" are always accessible. But in reality, the White House is ensconced in a fortress and the president is in a virtually impenetrable protective bubble.
Great pains are taken to make it look otherwise, for good reason, but don't think that because the White House fencing LOOKS like the fence at a local country club that it is the same as one.

I had a real conern. I am in PA and thankfully a relative that lives in DC has left for the weekend.

But I suspect that, just like election day and others, government emphasis has been on discouraging all who could be reached from doing anything they could be arrested for, rather than encouraging.
So far crickets. Maybe, like those of them drawn to last summer's #BLM marches, they plan to sneak in in the dark.

Who knows what one sick, lone wolf might try??

(3,213 posts)There are snipers on the roof, secret service and guards surrounding the building, barricades at every entrance, the windows are bullet proof, there is a nuclear bunker underneath the building, there is an elaborate network of tunnels that go under the White House for the President and staff to escape to a secure location.
