Also the French are trying to convert the nuclear Barracuda Class subs to diesel for the deal..
Something they have no experience in, their entire sub fleet is nuclear. They signed the deal 5 years ago and still not one sub has been built.

Even if they had ordered the nuclear version from the French the US reactors are sealed and last for the lifetime of the submarine unlike the ones France uses which have to be serviced every ten years.
