...are like this. Bedside nursing is hard work, and always has been. It shouldn't be this hard.

I left the bedside very early in my career, and became a nurse practitioner - outpatient pediatrics, which is a generally happy specialty. These nurses have physical and emotional stamina that leaves me in awe. I couldn't do it.

Maybe someday she will be able to write about watching a mother die from Covid minutes before her baby was born, but I doubt it. The Hospital had to have counselors come in and deal with the entire staff after that one.
