Anyone who has witnessed someone who cant breath and still rejects the vaccine are beyond stupid. As hospitals move into crisis care I hope they start moving unvaccinated patients to the bottom of the list. The unvaccinated are literally killing other people.

(24,525 posts)I absolutely agree that unvaccinated patients need to be at the back of line for healthcare.

(10,103 posts)With ALS you lose your ability to breathe. He had a face mask that he wore at night or when he wasnt interacting with other people. Hed worked out a way to keep the positive pressure tube near his mouth, he could turn his head enough to wrap his lips around the tube and fill his lungs, then could speak a sentence or so as the air escaped his lungs. He was fortunate that he kept most control of his mouth and had avoided have to get a tracheotomy. That would be done at some point when he lost further control. Apparently the progression was somewhat atypical and he managed to go on that way for quite some time. He always said he wouldnt want to stay alive once he lost the ability to speak and eat but didnt get that far advanced before he died. We didnt really get along that well but I had to admire how he kept up his spirits in his position.

(58,785 posts)what it is to be unable to breathe adequately, even for a few minutes. I'm glad I can't really imagine just how dreadful it must be, a protective limitation no doubt, but for sure all our efforts should be toward prevention and to protect everyone we can.

(14,124 posts)He was diagnosed 18 months ago, so it took him fairly quickly. The amount of care needed was astronomical! I totally agree with you!
Allow me to extend my condolences in the loss of your brother.
