(14,852 posts)I remember reading a "Dear Abby" years ago, though, in which the gullible husband made it clear why he should have doubts about being the biological father, such as differences in appearance and his previous vasectomy. Then he wrote that it was like a "miracle", with Abby simply encouraging that belief.

(68,469 posts)she had her tubes tied...they were making damn sure the factory was closed. They had two kids...one was in college and the other was just out of college as I recall. Well, she got pregnant with twins...it was shocking. They were there a couple of years and then were transferred somewhere else which happened quite a bit there...very transient. She told me once that she was happy that the babies were here because once you know they are coming, you can't imagine life without them but it was a big shock. I don't believe in fate...I do believe in God but believe man has free will...but that was something. What are the odds?

(14,852 posts)I think people are wise to "verify" things in life, though, rather than blindly accept something.
At the same time, whatever floats their boat if it's only causing harm to themselves. I might suggest verification, but I'm not going to push it if they're determined to believe whatever they WANT to believe. Again, as long as it doesn't negatively affect others.
By the way, the newspaper advice column that I saw many years ago -- in the 90's? -- could've been Ann Landers instead. I don't recall that detail anymore.

Quickly swab his own and "his" child's inner mouth cheeks, then send them to a DNA testing company.

(5,062 posts)Bet you didn't know that if you drink milk while you are eating fish, it will poison you. Or if you put your hands in cold water before you nurse your baby it will chill the milk and give the baby colic. It is amazing what some of these people believe. When my youngest son was around 15 he told me he felt that before kids get old enough to have babies they should be given an IQ test. If they are below a certain number, they should be sterilized before they could reproduce. I told him that was an awful thing to say. He replied "you don't know half the kids in my class".
I think it is probably satire. That is what makes satire so great and so funny. It very well could be real.

(10,130 posts)was darker skinned than the supposed father, and had brown eyes (I admit I don't know how the genetics of green eyes works) but, applying Ockam's razor, the most likely explanation is that the guy who wrote this is not the biological father. But he probably doesn't want to know that.
"Melanin sensitivity" - even if such a thing exists - wouldn't be genetic AFAIK

(11,686 posts)of the parents genes can come up? I went to school with a guy who's entire family was white on both sides down to his great grandparents on both sides. He was black. Yes, a lighter black but black. His mother had not had an affair either. There is probably some black people in his family before his great grandparents on at least one side.

(17,414 posts)The vaccine turned one half of my penis just a tiny tiny bit darker than the other half.
I'm talking "half" in terms of "longways". In other words, the right side of my penis instead of the base vs. the head.
Mind you, the color change was not dramatic at all. Just maybe 1/4 of a full shade darker. Just a "skosh" of a color change, just a little "jot" of movement on the color wheel.
I went and showed the people at the Benjamin Moore paint store, since they have some highly regarded color experts there. 5 out of the 9 employees who looked at it could not see any color change.
The other 4 employees agreed that the color on the right half "may" have changed "just a skosh", but I think they just said that to get me out of the store.
