Demonstrators demand Guantanamo prison closure

http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/20120112_21.html

updated at 13:27 UTC, Jan. 12

As the US detention center in Guantanamo naval base in Cuba marks its 10th anniversary, a rally demanding its shutdown was held in Washington.

Hundreds of people participated in the rally in front of the White House on Wednesday -- exactly 10 years since the first detainees arrived at Guantanamo Bay.

Some protestors held placards demanding that the center be closed, while others shouted that the US government must respect the rights of the detainees.

It's hard for some of us to accept his "change" of mind after becoming POTUS. Guantanamo is an embarrassment to this country, pure and simple.

Aren't we supposed to lead by example?
