I'll miss Beck Bennett though! He was good in so many skits/roles...

I find the sound of his voice physically painful, nausea-inducing.

So glad they brought on Bowen Yang full time. I suppose an Emmy nomination will do that for you.

So many great skits he's been in and/or wrote. Sara Lee, Zillow, Soul Cycle. But, of course, everyone knows him as the iceberg.

I will really miss Beck Bennett. Who is Lauren Holt?

I predict either Kate McKinnon or Cecily Strong as Kyrsten Sinema. Kate would seem the most likely choice, but Cecily seems to have an edge with characters like that.

I just don't find Bowen Yang very funny. I really wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he just hasnt seemed to have found his groove there.

It isn't funny to see Trump behaving like a spoilt five year old. We see that every time he opens his mouth, or to see a governor in denial of basic facts. Just repeating reality isn't funny to me. It isn't comedy that is daring. It isn't ironic. There are no punchlines. But it is obnoxious! Anyone else see it this way?

Last year was better, sort of. They occasionally have a good sketch here and there but otherwise I do agree.

No punchlines is a bit of a counter comedy thing these days.
Weekend Update is still funny to me but not necessarily the fake guests.
It’s tough coming up with completely new material on the fly from Monday to Wednesday basically and then rewrite rewrite rewrite. SNL does use or have catch phrase easy skits like Wayne’s World Wild and Crazy Guys Stewart Smalley Church Lady etc. anymore. It makes it harder but the creative side seems to not want to play it safe.

I’ve watched from probably the end of the first season on pretty steadily. SNL has ebbs and flows but this is a above the middle part right now in my opinion.

absurd to the extreme. Is it trying to say something? If so, I'm not hearing it. It has done a lot to normalize fascism. It let Trump on its show as a guest and gave him exposure as if he was acceptable. It helped Trump and his machine of lies and prejudice to be elected. It is seen by the right as attacking Trump and the right, even though it presents something that really presents more of a reality than an exaggeration. By mimicking Trump, it minimizes how dangerous he is. Under the label of comedy, it sends out a signal that this isn't really how Trump is, when it actually is. I cannot find that funny.
