It's Not The Democrats Being Bad On Messaging It Is The MSM Driving The Narrative Regardless

I am sure there is some room for improvement, but I don't hear Democrats talking about 3.5 Trillion.

It's the media.

It's the media.

It's the media.

The billionaire owned media who's owners want Democrats powerless to raise their taxes.

That is the REAL story.

Sure Democracy is being destroyed, but the only thing the talking heads want to talk about is Democrats infighting.

Yes there is some "other coverage" sometimes, but they drive the narrative. Democrats in trouble, and may lose blah, blah, blah. Nothing about if you vote for Republicans, it is more likely your house will burn, be blown down, or be washed away in a flood in a matter of time because Climate Change will be ignored.

Very little about the Republicans attempting to sabotage our government at every chance, and install a dictator, and throw out votes, to install their own electors.

There is a 5 alarm Democracy Fire, and they only want to do hit jobs on Democrats.

Democrats need to call them out on their "steering" and mention the traitor party sometimes.

That's why I've asked the "Democrat suck at messaging" what they think Dems should do differently. Funny thing, there's never an answer - because when pressed, the critics can't come up with anything the Democrats can do that can be more effective than what they've already done since most of this problem is out of their control.

I also find it amusing to listen to journalists and pundits criticize the Democrats for not getting their message out. It seems to me if these journalists know what the message is, it's their job to report it. If people don't know what's going on, it's much more the fault of the reporters who aren't reporting it, not the Democrats who are providing volumes of information and content that journalists keep ignoring in order to cover the "horse race."

How is it that even RACHEL MADDOW did not know even a few days ago (if she does now?) that President Biden has appointed three new and diverse members to the USPS Board of Governors and that when stooge Ron Bloom's HOLDOVER term expires Dec. 8 that Biden will replace him as well, and that then the board will have a majority of Dem-appointed and senate confirmed members who can oust DeJoy as he rampages to ruin the Postal Service?

I am telling you that the public -- even people as well-informed as Maddow -- has not had any clue that help is on the way for USPS. Stories continue of the damage DeJoy is doing to their mail, and no one at the WH thought it might have been a good idea to have a little presser and introduce the three new board members? Weeks ago? Five minutes with the pool, in the OO. It was a story that never got told to the people.

I cannot tell you how many times I have shared that information on social media sites in the last two weeks to the great relief of people of all kinds, thanking me profusely.

Shrug. Just an example regarding messaging.

The Dems obviously have an uphill climb with MSM still Speaker Pelosi/ Majority Leader Schumer/ President Biden (as he just did) or a spokes person if they can’t should be at a podium everyday reminding Americans

Who ran up $8trillion in debt

Who lost an election and filed 60+ lawsuits for fraud and all were tossed.

Who raised the taxes on the middle class substantially to give upper class tax breaks.

Who was impeached twice. Once for abuse of office and once for attacking the country.

Who a special counsel said committed 10 acts of obstruction of justice (why do we still not have a full unredacted version of the mueller report)

Who attempted to overthrow the government when it became clear 11,780 votes were not going to be found.

And

Who thru incompetence or criminal intent allowed a pandemic to spread that has now killed 720,000+ Americans.

Democrats should be flooding the airwaves with this and social media and if it is not broadcast by MSM or on social media, DT gave them a roadmap on how to call out the media only here it would be for not telling the truth not some lie like injecting disinfectant is a good thing.the GOP is a master at getting messages out it how they are able to keep Dems on the defensive so often. The Dems need to go on offense and saturate the nation with reality.

Trump attacked the media baselessly and with complete lies. His only method was to say that anything truthful (and typically truthfully negative) was "fake news". That is it. That was his playbook.

What the media does is much more complicated than that. Journalists are typically more liberal in their beliefs and approach to reporting, given that liberalism typically favors an "objective" approach (though I would argue that "objectivity" is more myth than reality.). Journalists however, are the lowest rung on the "media" ladder and need to get by editors and newsroom managers, and up the chain to the BOD and shareholders who have very different interests than the journalists.

Going full in on media runs the risk of completely destroying what trust people have left in the institution of journalism. I guess it might not be such a bad thing if the media went down in flames, except, what would it be replaced with? It might not go the direction that we would want, sort of how "revolutions" have a greater chance of turning into authoritarian situations rather than a new, enlightened democratic form of government.

of exactly what you're saying. But not having their own 24-7 news network means they have to rely on the news networks that do exist to broadcast their press avails, which they rarely do.

Any message that is not repeated by the media evaporates. Speaking a message and getting it heard are two entirely different things. The media can always find someone who is saying something that they can use to steer discussion and create acrimonious and divisive debate. A perfect recent example is "defund the police." The media turned two people carrying signs in Minneapolis into an orgy of breathless "Democrats want to defund the police" discussions that, paired with the "socialism" fable, successfully kept a party of naked treason, authoritarianism, and kleptocracy competitive in the 2020 election cycle.

On any given day there are hundred of stories that could be covered, but only a handful will make the airwaves. This is where the media's masters exercise their droit du seigneur .

I listen to Democrats ALL THE TIME. Today was the first time in a while I've heard an aggressive message cornering goppers and it was from Joe Biden when he said "If you aren't going to help, get out of the way." Yes. More of that because Democrats never do that, and it's not the media's fault. It's been a failure of the Democratic party to adopt messaging as a discipline. It's because Dems have been on the defensive for so long, they've forgotten that having the upper hand can be a reality if you just project dominance.

It was in 1935 that Will Rogers said, "I don't belong to any organized political party, I'm a Democrat." 1935 was 2 years into Roosevelt's almost 16 years in office as President. Democrats held super majorities in both House and Senate for a time during that period and dominated American politics for well over 30 years. The interaction between government and citizen was fundamentally transformed, much to the horror of many a conservative. However, the "common wisdom" of the time crystallized by Rogers was that Democrats were by their very nature, going to be a big tent of diverse ideas.

Republicans who were also a "liberal" (in the classic sense) party, began embracing conservatism during the Gilded Age of the late 1800's. If you remember, it was the fight between Conservative money Republicans and the Progressive Teddy Roosevelt, that gave the 1912 election to Woodrow Wilson (a Democrat with some different ideas about government, but a racist and example of the Southern Democrat who would later migrate to the Republican Party after LBJ signed the Civil Rights Acts into law.

Conservatism lends itself to authoritarianism and "message discipline". They like to call Democrats "sheep" but they are the ones that are always prone to "group think".

That's bad messaging

There have been 2 reports of the 2020 down ballot losses and majority polled felt dems who lost down ballot were vague or undefined.

Democrats are bad at messaging or using ALL of the medias available to get a theme across the onus that only 64% of democrats believe voter suppression is a problem does not belong to the media
