From the Nebraska Democratic Party
(Edit:Republican) Jeff Fortenberry has failed us yet again.
This time, though, hes fessing up to an ongoing FBI investigation into illegal campaign contributions from foreign nationals.
Jeffs solution to the investigation? Use it as a slimy strategy to fundraise for a legal defense fund.
In a now deleted fundraising page for Fortenberrys legal expense fund, Axios News found this from the Fortenberry campaign team: "[President] Bidens FBI is using its unlimited power to prosecute me on a bogus charge."
The investigation comes following illegal campaign contributions from a foreign billionaire to the campaigns of a number of congressional Republicans, including Fortenberry.
Fortenberry is now resorting to these desperate fundraising measures (calling Speaker Pelosi a Swamp Creature on the same fundraising page) to pay off exorbitant legal fees to his campaigns new, California-based legal firm specializing in white collar criminal defense.

In our 2017 KELOLAND News investigation The KELOLAND Kremlin Connection, we reported that South Dakota native, Paul Erickson was in the middle of a congressional investigation into collusion between Trumps political campaign and the Russians.

Figures... But the article made it sound like he was a Democrat that had "failed the party."

(18,486 posts)Until he did, neither the FBI, in particular, nor DOJ, more generally( AG, U.S. Attorney, etc.), gave any indication to the public that Fortenberry, a U.S. Congressman, was being investigated.
This is exactly how these investigations are supposed to work (aside from the part about the target announcing it in order to fundraise). ...
