Bannon defying a subpoena, and the power he has to stir the shit.

Last edited Fri Oct 8, 2021, 11:43 AM - Edit history (1)

What we're going to see is a lesson on how right-wingers create noise that he will exploit for his own gain. I've seen it on a local level, and now we'll get to see it on a national one. He will incite "his" people for support, and as they turn him into a martyr, we'll see a huge swell of indignation. And this is where we have difficulty drawing the line.

There is a line we can't cross or we'll only fall into the trap that amplifies their indignation. But, they will do whatever they can to get us there, because it will legitimize their anger.

I have a hope, that someone in the Sociology/Psychology Department already knows that this kind of human behavior exists, and has advice on how we should deal with it; because this kind of behavior has been influencing our social and political situation since the nineties. I see right-wingers using it more frequently, and it isn't a good formula for long-term peaceful transitions in our country.

of it. Essentially nobody showed up at that fake "march on the Capitol" recently. Couple of hundred people, outnumbered by media and security.

Bannon talks about a "strike force" of 20,000. Not a chance they'll show up, in my opinion. Where would they go? To DC? If they show up there armed with their "tactical" AR-15s, they'll meet an force that is better prepared than they are. There's no Trump to call off the troops any longer like he did on January 6.

There are limits to what the "armed rabble" will take on, actually, and the limits are pretty low. They don't actually want to fight; they just want to intimidate unarmed people.

Bannon can call out the "strike force," but will it show up? I doubt it very much.

trump flunkies ready to take jobs within the day-to-day operations of the federal government as a way to undercut whatever department heads might be unwilling to dismantle their own agencies.

I'm of the opinion that the only reason he wants any of this done, is because he knows that a dismantled administrative state is one that's easier to rob. The rest of it is all bullshit.

I think they'll be fired up & ready to rumble come November next year. They need an event where their actions can actually make a difference. That's why I think the rally a few weeks ago was a bust. What were the stakes? Nothing. IDK if Bannon can rally a strike force or not, but the events they will target will be our elections, & the counting processes afterwards. Our side just let a private entity challenge an election, & demand & get access to ballots & election equipment, so who's going to stop them in 2022 when they demand the same the day after the election? Until there's actually something at stake, it's all just talk, but I wouldn't take Bannon or his goons lightly.

Also 'our side' didn't 'just let' the AZ Fraudit happen.

We didn't have the votes to stop it, and had no other recourse.

Just sayin'

That said, legislatures run by the GOP have voted themselves crazy freaking powers in elections in like 15+ states. November is going to be a shit show.
