(21,737 posts)But I don't think Kennedy will talk.
Kennedy's son was Trump's banker at Deutchesbank, making huge loans to him when others wouldn't.

(14,851 posts)Your kids have been very nice to him, Kennedy replied.
Well, Trump said, they love him, and they love him in New York.

I always thought this clip happened before Kennedy decided to step down. That implied Trump said something that got Kennedy to retire.
But now I see from the CNN feed that it was after Kavanaugh was sworn in. So, whatever Trump said couldn't have convinced Kennedy to retire.
I'm still not convinced that Kennedy resigned out of the goodness of his heart. There probably was some sort of pressure. But this clip isn't evidence of that.

(25,816 posts)Kennedy's son worked for Deutches Bank and had made questionable loans to trump.
trump uses this leverage to force Justice Kennedy to resign.
Do I have that right?

(3,595 posts)I have been highly suspect of Kennedy's surprise retirement ever since he announced it.
One of Kennedy's sons was involved in millions in loans from Deutch Bank, I think the other works for NASA (It would be interesting to see if the NASA son got some high ranking place in NASA).
And the fact that 2 of the 3 SC nominees by Trump clerked for Kennedy is highly suspicious to me.
A deal was made. Will we ever learn the truth and details? I doubt it.

Not making light of this, but I love Smittys interpretation of what was said:
T: otherwise your son
K: (freezes) don't you effn touch my son
T: I have no control over these things, lets see what happens
Reminds me of Felix Ungers lip reading of the airplane mechanics:
