Volunteer to staff the office, recruit candidates, BE a candidate, donate, lick stamps, be a precinct chair and get to know your precinct. Anything!

ran for office once.

One thing I've noticed is that everything that gets people on DU into conniption fits is not unknown, but pushed to the background. We just don't get involved in philosophical discussions when there's a zoning fight on the horizon.
