(25,126 posts)Poor choice of words. (cringe) It's more like a commemoration...
But I like this:
We'll continue to strive to create a more inclusive nation by electing leaders who will treat Tribal nations with dignity and respect
We have Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, but we never say "Happy" Armenian Genocide Day. (It occurs on the anniversary of when the order was given to exterminate Armenians on April 24th)
Jews have International Holocaust Remembrance Day on the anniversary 27 January was chosen to commemorate the date that Auschwitz concentration camp was liberated by the Red Army in 1945.

(54,280 posts)Usually, the response is "what do you mean?"
I say, "You know where Spain is, right? You know where England is right? They are European countries, speaking European languages. If all you can speak is English, then the only language you speak is European. Tell me you speak Navajo, Hopi, Algonquin, Iroquios, Cree, Cheyenne, Lakota, Seminole, Nahuatl, or one of the languages that were spoken in North America before the Europeans got there, and THEN you can tell me you speak 'American.' Otherwise, you speak European."
Of course, one shouldn't forget that, US education being what it is, in some parts of the country, the answer to "You know where Spain is, right? You know where England is right?" is often: "well, not exactly."
