to take care of her heart condition. She was left in a hospital hallway for two days waiting for an echo test that was never done. My co-worker is completely devastated and so angry.
We need to shun the anti-vaxxers from the public and society. They ARE killing people. I'm so broken for her. This country is just jacked.

(24,401 posts)We expect our friends and family to be cared for at the hospital, not left to die in a hallway. The anti-vaxxers are causing death all around the country and they need to put out in tents with sheep dip to treat themselves.
I wish I knew a way to turn your co-worker's anger into something positive, but I don't know what that would be.

(38,958 posts)Yes, I agree that the anti-vax crowd needs to be left to fend for themselves and the folks that have done the right thing should push them to the curb. They should receive no public accommodation of any sort and that includes hospitalization.

(28,303 posts)such an idea. FUCK THE UNVACCINATED. Seriously. Let them and their defenders go gargle with some ground glass and H2O2 followed with a horse-paste chaser or whatever they're into these days.
I'm sure their tune would change real fast, and the finger-wagging would immediately cease if it was one of their loved ones who died.

(46,016 posts)Once they're in, it's pretty impossible to kick them out. But if this person's mother spent 2 days in the hallway, put the anti-vaxxers in the hallway instead. Or put up a mobile clinic for them in the parking lot.

(4,281 posts)After fracturing his hip in a fall (at home), the fire & rescue squad took him to the closest major hospital. Where he sat for hours before they discharged him. Their x-ray didn't show a fracture.
He was sent home, where -- a week later -- he was in such bad shape that he was returned to the same hospital. This time, they ran a CT scan and found the fracture. But still had no beds. So he was sent to a nursing home, where he passed a couple days later.
All because the anti-vaxers have filled ICUs. Send their sorry asses to nursing homes and field (tent) hospitals.

(90,740 posts)The evening I had my heart attack there was another person there with a stroke and he had been waiting 15 hours to find a hospital bed when I was getting ER treatment. When I left on the helicopter, he was still waiting.
This is horrible for people with an emergency, anti-vaxxers taking up all the space because of their ignorance.

(86,056 posts)last week. Now I have to go get tested and I am really pissed at the person who got me exposed.
It could disrupt my dental care plan that is nearly complete and for which I have to travel nearly 300 miles one way to each session.
I have a therapy session tomorrow so now I need to call and cancel first thing in the morning and go find a testing location. My medical care provider can't see me because of a ransomeware attack... fun times.
I feel for you and your friend, my condolences.

(86,056 posts)I was just venting but it happens all the time to someone every day. Your friend's thing is becoming common too and it's horrible. Though the friend's mom dying that way is far more serious, this whole mess is just getting harder to bear on so many levels. At least I'm fully vaxxed and try to stay isolated, wear a mask everywhere.
I hope I come out negative too. I can't handle being really sick, I don't have anyone to help me if I do.
I see there's a walk-in testing site at the county facility so I'll go there.

Something drastic needs to be done. Hospitals are going to have to have policies so that this does not happen.
I think a public announcement that a hospital will give priority to vaccinated patients, and then implement that policy. People are dying from ruptured appendix.
